Saturday 24th July 2010 1s v Stanmore 1s
Twickenham fail to push through the gears.

I have been many things in my short life but one thing I know I am not is a good loser!

Losing for me is like those white bits of foam in the corner of someone's mouth or bad breath or body odour, just completely unacceptable. However, in life and in particular sport you have to accept that there are (unfortunately) going to be times when this is the case.

As a result of this it is vital that you learn how to deal with that defeat and go on to bigger and better things.

Beating Ealing and Finchley on back to back weekends was amazing! Almost unreal, but as has been pointed out we have lost to Acton, Stanmore and Brondesbury. Sides we should be drawing with or beating based on previous performances.

Saturday's resulted was really based on a poor performance with the bat.

Twickenham won the toss and chose to bat on a belter prepared by Mr Tony Bendalow. The ambition was to bat first, rack up the runs declare on 60 over's and bowl out the opposition.. However, Twickenham found themselves 0 for 2 in the second over, having lost both McCabe and Paull for 0 each.

This left Twickenham with a mountain to climb even on the flattest of pitches. However, Nunes and Meredith did some rebuilding followed by Parker. Russell and Meredith continued after Parker and put together a 50 partnership however, Russell was dismissed shortly before lunch, leaving the T's 140 for 5 at lunch. Not the worst position, but hanging in the balance. The scales unfortunately tipped in the wrong direction and Twickenham slumped to 208 all out. The only shinning light in the innings being Tom Meredith registering another fantastic hundred (107) and once again showing us all why he sits in the top three of the league average's!

Despite a good effort from Twickenham in the field and with the ball the inevitable happened and Stanmore were able to hold their nerve (despite a wobble in the middle) and stormed the castle to take 10 points from fortress Twickenham.

However, next Saturday is fresh week and with fresh approach it should be a good week for the T's at the Bush!

So bring on Saturday!!

I would also like to thank everybody who did make the effort to come down and watch it was very much appreciated.
