Streak of  Luck for the Ladies

Streaker interrupts Ladies cricket match but undaunted Twickenham
ladies
went onto win by 6 wickets.

Twickenham ladies were playing Rowledge in the first league match of
the
season.  Rowledge having won the toss, elected to bat and thanks to
their openers Winstone and Davies saw a very  impressive 137 on the
board before Janet Greenhead finally made the break through and
dismissed Winstone but not until the 27th over.  With the partnership
finally broken, captain Ann Baker introduced a change in the bowling by
bringing on slower pace bowler  Nan Haggerty who scooped a magnificent
5
wickets for just 31 runs in her 8 overs.  However, at the close of the
40 overs Rowledge still had 186 on the board, a formidable target for
Twickenham to reach.

At the start of the Twickenham innings Rowledge were looking very
comfortably in command as they soon sent the openers back to the
pavilion leading the way for Karen Wilton to join Janet Greenhead.
Skilful batting by them both lead to a partnership of 69 and when
Greenhead was dismissed Denise Orford joined Wilton.  Together they
produced another fine partnership of 47. Wilton who achieved her maiden
50 was finally dismissed for 72 off just 71 balls in 85 minutes.  Helen
Mills then joined Orford and together their 45 partnership wrapped the
match up in the 36th over with 6 wickets in hand.  For Rowledge Katie
Forward took 2 for 47.

Next week sees Twickenham travel to Letchworth, in the second of their
league matches in South Division Two.  The ladies also go through to
the
second round of the Southern League Knock Out Cup, their opponents
having been unable to raise a side.  Although the with the wet weather,
play would probably not have been possible.
