Result: Losing Draw (1 Point)

The 5th x1 continued their unbeaten record with an awkward losing draw against Perivale which I will not really get into detail about because it is a very long explanation. The sun was finally shining and it was a wonderful day to play cricket. This is a change as previous journeys to Perivale have been miserable and gloomy.

The T’s actually arrived very early to the ground and the day started with some catching practice. There was also a group of children throwing water bombs at each which ironically was also thrown at Sanjay Rawal courtesy to Majid Abbasi but skipper got the blame!  The toss was conducted and it was Perivale who won the toss and elected to bat first in the heat.

Inform skipper and Abassi took the new ball and it was a bit of a shaky start for Dassani as batsman Hashim played typical cross legged shots to the leg side short boundary. Majid at the other end was keeping it nice and tight instantly which added nerves to both batsmen. Both Dassani and Abbasi were creating chances but the deadlock broke and it was Hashim to depart on 14. He was caught behind my Uzzi Khan and bowled by Dassani. A decent start for the T’s and Aman was now accompanied by Waheed.

Waheed yet again had similar attributes to Hashim. Just one shot in the locker which was the horrendous cross legged shot. Majid kept plugging away but the reward of a wicket was simply not arriving. The second wicket was soon to follow and the skipper continued to add wickets to the tally as batsman Aman tried to play the ball over mid off which failed and it was Taufeeq Sheikh who took the catch safely. Dassani almost claimed the third wicket of the game as Waheed just looped the ball in the air but lack of communication between Sanjay and Vishal lead to Vishal being penalised with the drop catch. That was one life crossed off for Waheed. Waheed was literally getting away with everything as Abbasi and Dassani were mighty close on various occasions to send him back to the pavilion.

The first bowling change came and it was Sheikh to replace Dassani. Sheikh instantly got into the action with some great line and length deliveries and Waheed was now probably on his 8th life. The second bowling change was also enforced and Abbasi was replaced by Brian the telephone bill Thorne. Abbasi bowled very well and thoroughly deserved a few wickets and a chocolate cake.

The third wicket soon arrived and it was a well deserved wicket for Taufeeq Sheikh. Ajay was caught behind by Uzzi Khan and he departed on a hit and miss 17. Nabeel was the next in to partner the 9th life Waheed. Waheed continued to get a few lucky shots towards the boundary. The next wicket was soon to follow and it was Nabeel who came out and tried to launch BT over mid off but a superb diving catch from the skipper sent him back the pavilion. Crouchy could not believe the spectacular Dassani pulled out with and eventually was the last one to congratulate the bowler and fielder.

Waheed was the next to go. I wish I could say finally but it wasn’t the end of him as he was retired hurt. Afzaal Masala Masood was the next in. The Eastender character lookalike got into the action straight away with similar batting to Waheed and Hashim which was typical hoiks and edges to the boundary. Hawkwant came and went as Taufeeq bowled a crunching yorker which ripped the middle stump out of the ground. A beautiful delivery like that always deserves a wicket. BT and Taufeeq were giving all they can but batsmen were just simply getting lucky.

Vishal Kapoor was introduced to the attack to replace tired and injured Taufeeq Sheikh. It was a great spell from Taufeeq who deserved more than 2 wickets. It was a decent start from Vishal who continued to keep the momentum just like Taufeeq. BT’s spell ended and it was a very decent effort but the luck just simply wasn’t on his side. The skipper brought himself back on just to see if he can get a wicket but there was still not much luck in terms of that. Kapoor got his first wicket for the club as the lucky Masala Masood departed on 25. Nevertheless all their innings were turning out to be clinical. Masala Masoods son Zeeshan was still hanging with some lucky batting but also credit to him with some creditable shots. Sachin hung in there for him but Zeeshan Tanwar Afzaal departed on a well respective total of 31. He was caught at gully by a running catch from BT! It was well judged and held.  The bowler was Majid who finally claimed his wicket which was more than deserved.

Waheed also arrived back to frustrate the T’s even more with those horrendous shots but eventually Vishal sent him back to the pavilion for good with a jaffer which blew the stump out of the ground. Although it was a very lucky 39 for Waheed and also hanging on one leg the credit goes to him as his innings played a crucial part for Perivale.

The rain started to tumble down and Perivale’s South African skipper Martin was accompanied by the usual suspect uncle Surrander. He is only known for blocking the ball and frustrating teams. He was doing just that as the rain poured down heavy. Vishal continued to work hard and was getting very close for his 4fer haul. Abbasi was taken off for Sanjay I fancy a bowl Rawal. Rawal instantly made an impact and managed to claim the last wicket with another good catch from the skipper at mid off. What is this world turning into????? The innings ended on a decent total of 184- All out for Perivale in exactly 42 over’s.

The second innings start with Gilbert Sanchez and DAVID HENDERSON! The skipper had a faceboook status which said special offer at William Hill. If you put in £1 for David Henderson to hit a 50 you will receive back £90,000 and if Ben Aldworth hits more than then you receive £1 million. This status was however deleted straight after. The innings started of slowly with a few runs on the board and Perivale started off on a high as Gilbert was bowled out for 6 by Afzaal. A double minded shot confused Gilbert and that is what penalised him. Ben Aldworth was the new man in at number 3 looking to work his magic again.

Perivale were really bowling well with persistent straight balls but Hendo and Crouchy continued to work hard. The bad balls were instantly dealt with and the good balls were respected which was the sensible thing to do. Both batsmen were also rotating the strike. At the 20 overs break T’s were on a steady total of 63-1 with still a lot of strong batting to come.

After the break Hendo and Crouchy went all guns blazing and after 5 over’s the total was on 97. After that the next wicket had arrived and it was Crouchy to depart on 24. He was bowled by Harmeet but huge credit to Crouchy who worked his socks off and played very positively. Yet again he continues to blossom with his constant magic. Hendo continued to smash the ball around the park but the tiredness started to play a part. Hendo eventually reached his half century and what a sublime knock it was. Uzzi was the next to depart who hit a quick fire 15 but a decent delivery managed to deceive him. With the T’s starting to lose control Hendo was the next to depart on 61. He was bowling by Zeeshan but huge applause for Hendo as he played a classy innings. It was well deserved and definitely worth giving it the man of the match display.

Sanjay and Vishal both came and went with wickets now starting to tumble. The skipper then all of a sudden mentioned Rules which were not in the handbook. After a huge debate the game ended because of this debate and the result now currently stands as a losing draw for the T’s.

Nevertheless there were plenty of positives to take from the game. Only criticism really was drop catches which yet again proved to be the clinical source for the batting side. This allowed them to have the advantage of gaining more runs. Well done to Uzzi who was immense behind the stumps with 4 catches. Every bowler put in a great display as everyone claimed wickets but it was Vishal who was the stand out performer with the ball. It was good to see Hendo and Crouchy both putting in a terrific batting display with a 91 run partnership and whoever put in money at the bookies must be rich!

As for the future we just need to stay positive and keep plugging away. The attitude and charisma was always 110% and the 10 pointers will definitely soon arrive. Bring on Richmond next week! I will say this again CATCHES WIN MATCHES and Uzzi it is very sensible if you DO NOT LEAVE YOUR CAR KEYS INSIDE THE CAR!

Jonno Cockney Column: I tell you what sam of those fif tame playas are orrific. That Endo and Crouchy mas  ave paid tha bowlas their match fayes. Az for that Inay hez the most orrendous out the lot. Blaady skipper keeps himself on and gets sam of the most idious wickets eva and neva takes catches when I bowl in awll. Not avin this all bunch of liabilities they are. Uzzi Khan is also shambles for leaving his car keys inside tha car. That is blaady orrendous. E also decides to bring a bit of that poxy shisha. Mwite as well turn Twickenham CC into Marrakesh CC. At least ave a few of those abibi belly dancers! They are gowgus

Monty Moment- Vishal Kapoor and Sanjay Rawal can both decide this with their circus antics. But Majid do not start laughing I saw you get nutmeg by the batsman.

Jonty Moment- Plenty of good stops from majority of the fielders especially Sanjay and Joseph but the skipper’s catches and BT are in this category.
