Following 2 weeks of
gruelling assessments and coaching at Middlesex Ladies trials, Sunny Pottay,
Charlotte Gallagher and Kat Dickens have all been selected to
the Middlesex Ladies squad for the coming season. This is
fantastic news, not only for the individual players but also the
Ladies team and Twickenham Cricket Club.
Janet Bitmead, the Ladies section Secretary said, “It is a long
time since we had any Middlesex players at the club and is
another positive step for Twickenham CC.”
More than 40 ladies attended the trials including Ashes winner and
England International, Beth Morgan. Watched by the coaching
staff and management at Middlesex, the hopefuls were assessed on
all aspects of their game and fitness and the ability to perform
to the highest standards under the pressure of county trials.
Beth Morgan commented, “the Twickenham girls fitted in really
well, and all looked good players. It will be great to have some
new blood in the squad.”
The selection of Sunny, Charlotte and Kat comes on the back of a
very successful season for Twickenham Ladies who played 29 games
and won 20 of them, including taking the Middlesex Super 8’s
Cup. Martyn Fryer, Twickenham’s Coach and Cricket Development
Manager, commenting on the selection, said, “It is wonderful
news for all associated with Twickenham CC, and a reflection of
the hard work that Sunny, Charlotte and Kat have put in over the
last year. Our aim is to produce more County players amongst our
members of all ages, and our coaching staff will be working hard
to achieve this.”
