Double triumph for Twickenham
Ladies.
Wins against Surrey clubs Redoubtables and Shepperton sees
excellent start for Twickenham Ladies.
Saturday's match was played at Broom Road, Teddington and saw a 32
run victory against Redoubtables. Put into bat Twickenham score
164 for 4 in their allotted 35 overs, thanks to Lexi Straker-Nesbitt's
55 not out supported by Kirstie Martin's 31. In reply
Redoubtables were soon in trouble with the loss of three quick
wickets all taken by Charlotte Gallagher for just 16 runs.
However Jessica Jackson 62 and Chloe Kelly 30 both not out, gave a
much needed boost to Redoubtables innings with their 80
partnership which pulled their score up to 132 at the close of
play with the loss of only one more wicket taken by Sunny Pottay.
Sunday saw Twickenham travel to Shepperton and again opened the
batting. Straker-Nesbitt repeated her excellent form with a fine
30 supported by Natasha Chapman and Nithu Jayalath both scoring 21
resulting in 142 on the board after 40 overs. Like Saturday, the
opposition were soon in trouble with 3 quick wickets and a run out
with a direct hit all of which put pressure on Shepperton. Only
Chris Rapley's 48 and Lyn Nahorniack's 23 gave any substance to
Shepperton's129 when their last wicket fell in the 39th over.
Twickenham won by 13 runs. For Twickenham A.Baker took 3 for 24,
Jayalath 2 for 14 and Straker-Nesbitt 2 for 22.
