254 runs win the match for Twickenham Ladies

Impressive 88 for Gallagher

Following on from the success of winning their match at Horsham the previous week, Twickenham Ladies notched up another league win with an 81 run victory over Kent Nomads.

Having lost the toss, they were put into bat and thanks to an impressive innings by Charlotte Gallagher 88, ably supported by Marina Steel’s 57 and Denise Orford’s 52; saw the home side with a convincing 254 for 6 wicket after their 45 overs.

Twickenham’s Nithu Jayalath was soon in action taking the wicket of opener Carol Brown Kenyan in the first over. With sharp fielding and tight bowling from the home team taking wickets along the way,  Orpington’s run rate could not keep up with that of Twickenham’s and at the close of play found themselves 81 runs short of the target despite a good knock from Emma Elson 68 and Christine Poth 30 not out.

This win should see them retain their third place in the league and edging themselves nearer to the league leaders fellow Middlesex Club Dukesmead.
