Ladies X1 v Horsham, Sunday 4th May 2008

Ladies lose at home to Horsham.

Hollingsbee's 34 could not turn the game in Twickenham's favour.

Twickenham ladies hosted Horsham at The Green on Sunday 4th May.  Having
won the toss, the home side elected to field.  At the close of the
innings Twickenham despite giving away a considerable number of extras
had done well to restricted Horsham's target to just 103 for 7 wickets
from their 40 overs.   Tee Hollingsbee taking three good catches and
with two run outs the fielding certainly looked much sharper than the
bowling.   The extras counting for just under a quarter of the score,
certainly contributed to Twickenham's downfall.   Ann Baker, Roselle
Tuitt and Hollingsbee took one wicket each and Sally Thomlinson 2 for 17
off her eight overs.

This should have been an easy target for the home team to gather but
Horsham's bowlers showed why they meant business after their long
journey from Sussex and soon had Twickenham reeling as wickets fell
rapidly.  With just 12 overs gone the ladies home team were already 5
wickets down with just a miserable 25 on the board.  Hollingsbee who was
the "dame of the game" for Twickenham was then joined at the wicket by
Sunny Pottay and these two with their fine display of shots produced an
impressive 6th wicket partnership of 58 to pull Twickenham well back
into the game and give them a glimmer of hope.  With just two runs an
over needed a silly run out dismissed Hollingsbee and despite only
needing 21 the four tail enders succumbed to the bowling of Sussex
county player Sarah Fogwell and another two risky runs outs.  All of
which left the home side 10 short of the target when the last wicket
fell.  Pottay was 19 not out.  The Horsham bowlers too had given away
almost as many extras but it was Fogwell who did the most damage taking
4 wickets for 18 from 7 overs.

Next weeks see the ladies team travel to Rowledge in Hampshire for
another of their league matches.
