Twickenham 129- All Out

Sutton- 131- 4- Dassani 2-34
The Sunday 2’s lost to Sutton away by 6
wickets. Skipper Dassani won the toss and elected to bat first.
The pitch was not doing any favours for the batsman but opening
pair Gilbert Sanchez and Andy Donelan both battled it out with a
50 run partnership. Gilbert Sanchez was the first to depart on a
well respected 35 and Donners was the next to go on 22. Tom
Nickels came in at 3 and did his best to keep T’s in the game but
he departed on a well crafted 26(Not bad for a
The second innings started and Rohan no ball Kulkarni shared the new ball with Steve Gomes. Steve started off well by keeping it tight as possible whilst Rohan bowled some corkers but the persistent no balls and a few short balls was not the start T’s really needed when defending a low total. The first wicket game and it was Steve Gomes to break the deadlock. It was a well deserved wicket as he constantly frustrated the batsman with consistent tight bowling. The batsman was caught behind wonderfully by Matt Harris behind the stumps.
Skipper Dassani also made an instant impact as Harris pulled out with another spectacular behind the stumps. Gomes was given a blow and Donners came on and continued to keep the bowling tight. Dassani got another break through as batsman Khan was clean bowled. Donners then also bowled out their number 4. T’s started to nail down but the 3rd batsman did enough damage to see Sutton off home.
The T’s tried their best to keep the game alive. Dassani, Gomes and Donelan did well to keep it tight for a long period of time and the fielder worked their cut off but with only 129 runs to defend it was always going to be a tough encounter. 160 runs may have been interesting but at least their was a few positives take from the game. Well done to Gilbert on a sublime 35. Credit goes to Tom Nickels and Donners who both worked hard with the bat as it wasn’t an easy track to pursue a fluid innings.
