After being defeated by
Acton on Saturday the T's were out to regain some respect from our
Saturday opponents in the form of our Sunday league encounter.
However it turned out to be another forgettable Sunday league
match for the T's.
Sadly I lost the toss and
Acton elected to bat. The T's took to the field and seemed to be
chasing far too much leather with Acton 80 without loss after 7
overs. The early introduction of the T's spin attack in the form
of “Murali” Fattah and “Casanova” McCabe saw the T's rope back
Acton with one delivery bowled by “Murali” Fattah clean bowling
the Acton skipper round his legs. Some missed opportunities behind
the stumps from “Clanga” Meredith proved to be costly. The senior
Acton opener remained at the crease until a bowling changed
brought “Ramsey” Mvil to the plate and some Gerrandesk footwork
brought the Acton opener's innings to an end on 91 (run out).
Acton continued to set a respectable 250/8 off the alotted 45
overs.
The chase started in diasterous fashion with “Clanga” Meredith edging one to the keeper off the 3rd over. Saturday first XI opening bowler for Acton “Handgrenades” Reeve again troubled the T's batters and snared another 3 wickets taking his combined figures against the T's for the weekend to (85-9).
Some nice cameo's played by “Whippet” Brady (32), “300 club” Tomar (30) & “Murali” Fattah (32) gave some respectability to our total with the T's all out for 146.
With the opposition boasting 7 of its Saturday
First XI it was always going to be an uphill battle but again I
urge all 1's and 2's to considering playing the remaining Sunday
fixtures in an effort to give the competition a shake.
