TCC legend Carol Bryant has got the call up for Sunday's game

Carol's call up to score the World Cup Final is an honour she thoroughly deserves, we're all really proud of her

Sometimes the good guys really do get what they deserve. And we've got a bona fide case of this here; Carol Bryant, Ladies XI and TCC Men's First XI scorer, has been asked to score the women's ICC World Cup Final at Lord's tomorrow. For a scorer, there is no greater honour!

A playing legend
For those who don't know, cricket has been a major part of Carol's life. Indeed, she started playing way before the majority of current members were even born. She made her playing debut in 1962 (you see, not even Johno was playing then!) and soon became a handy all rounder. As well as being a steady opening bat and a wily slow bowler, I am also reliably informed that she was a fearless forward short leg. Carol, as well as being wonderfully committed, you must also be a little bit mad!

Carol retired from playing in 1995 by which time she'd turned out in a phenomenal 556 matches and scored 6308 runs (!). She'd also bowled a mammoth 2094 overs taking 451 wickets in the process. As well as playing club cricket she'd also represented Middlesex Ladies; clearly as well as being able to score Carol could also play the game.

From Playing to Scoring
With Carol having put the whites in the loft for the final time, she took up umpiring and then soon after scoring. She quickly did the requisite exams and is now widely regarded as one of the best around. She scores not just for TCC sides, but also for Middlesex Ladies, some of the Middlesex junior sides and also in ECB women's matches at national level.

Cricket is the type of game that people get addicted to. Carol is a perfect example of that and she's been a truly fantastic servant to TCC, to Middlesex and indeed to the game itself. There can't be anyone who deserves her place on the very highest stage more than she does. And, for good measure on Sunday she almost certainly won't have to put up with forgetful players and absent-minded spectators walking right in front of her as she notches away. Have a great day Carol, we're really proud of you.
