Bumper weekend rounded off by excellent performances from the Ts' two Sunday sides

As weekends go, it really doesn't get any better than this. All five Twickenham CC Saturday XIs won (see here for more) and that was followed up by two emphatic victories on Sunday.

Grinstead shines as MDL side triumph
The MDL side have started their season well, gaining a winning draw against Hampton Hill and now a win against Brentham (see here for a rather patch looking card). That now leaves them sitting pretty at the top of MDL Group F (see here).

Harry Grinstead was the undoubted star of a swashbuckling batting performance, posting an imperious 128no. That was the cornerstone of an impressive 313. Josh Hinde (53) and Ajmal Allahdad (32) backed him up nicely, whilst there was a nice cameo at the end from Saad Nawaz (a brisk 16no).

A depleted Brentham side knew that if they were going to get anywhere near that total then a good start was absolutely vital. They got one of those, their openers putting on 100 for the first wicket. But, as soon as one of them went - Saad pouching Anir Singh for 49 - things went wrong. And, they went wrong quickly. A partnership of 29 for the fourth wicket couldn't stop them sliding ever more speedily towards defeat.

The wickets were nicely shared around, but it was ultimately man of the day Grinstead who came to the party to secure maximum points. Bentham were getting dangerously close to batting out for the losing draw but Grinstead popped up to remove Brentham stalwart James Hitchcock and set off wild celebrations. Winning games of cricket is a good feeling, but winning games when you bowl a side out is absolutely the real deal.

The MDL side were scheduled to play Fulham on Sunday but their opposition have already cried off. That therefore means it's 24 points from three games for Connor Finney's band of merry men. The knock out stages look like they are definitely on the cards.

Tomar to the fore as Sunday XI win

The Sunday XI were involved in an altogether more sedate affair at Chobham. Batting first, the Ts helped themselves to 210 -9 off their allotted 40 overs (see here for the card).

That was generally regarded as a good effort, particularly as Praween Siriwardena had been removed very first ball of the innings. Dom Thamby (30 off 46) and Nihal Tomar (72 off an impressive 59 balls) soon started righting the ship, and before long the Ts were cruising nicely. Twickenham CC's version of Joss Buttler and Ben Stokes (Paul Johnson and Hinay Dassani) contributed 28 and 24 respectively whilst Ian Crook (4-34 off 8) did his best to peg things back for the hosts.

Opener Ian Lackey (55) caused the Ts problems in reply, but once Clavin Kara (16) and Jaspar Bowry (18) departed the Ts were always in control. 72-1 subsequently became 77-5 as Nisar Abidi (5-31) began ripping through the middle order. Praween Siriwardena (3-26) also redeemed himself with an impressive stint as Chobham closed 51 short.

All in all it has been a mightily impressive weekend for the Ts. Long may it continue!
