Hazel Lovegrove steps up to the plate to lead the TCC Ladies in to 2018

Playing for TCC Ladies is like 'Hotel California'. Once you've played, you can check out but you'll never leave

The TCC Ladies had an excellent 2017. They finished second in the league and put together a string of solid performances. In an era where many sides are struggling to field competitive sides, the TCC ladies continue to go from strength to strength.

2018 will, however, see a new captain take the reins; Hazel Lovegrove is taking over the skipper's armband. Hazel first began playing for the Ts in 2016, answering an SOS call to come over from her Kent home to turn out on one sunny Sunday afternoon. The rest of the ladies' squad managed to persuade her to not only become a regular, and indeed a key, member of the team, but also to use her vast cricket experience to take over the on field captaincy.

Hazel is really looking forward to building on the positive 2017 season and leading by example with both bat and ball. However, Hazel, never forget that it's all about player management; in the case of Sunny Pottay, for example, she definitely bowls better with a hangover!

Joking apart, the whole club wishes Hazel and the Ladies XI well in 2018.
