All five Ts sides well placed when rain scuppers things

It takes quite some skill to have get two wickets as a spinner when you're bowling with a wet sponge
- The Wounded Giraffe (aka Andy Donelan)

Typical. We've had a week of fantastic weather ... until Saturday when it pours down. Only one game in the nine divisions of the MCCL managed to produce a result and it didn't involves any of the TCC XIs. Indeed, no one got anywhere near the business end of proceedings as the Duke of Spain swept across south-west London.

Ts have Teddington on the ropes
Over the years the Ts have suffered plenty of defeats at the hands of Teddington, so it was particularly galling that the rain came when the visitors were well and truly on the ropes (see here for the card) at 31-5. Gurjit Sandhu (2-15 off 8) was swinging the ball round corners and Parminder Singh (3-14 off 7) was simply doing his thing. Pity the rain came.

The twos weren't in quite as strong a position, but they were still certainly in the box seat (see here). Teddington had struggled to 107-5 off 24 by the time the rain swept in, Ozzie Qavi (2-21 off 7) impressing on debut in the twos.

Time to dig in
The thirds won the toss and bravely opted to bat against North London. 172-5 off 32 was, in the conditions, a more than decent effort (see here for the card). Kev Cavilla was the star of the show, cruising to an unbeaten 62 before the heavens opened.

The fourths made even better progress, bowling Teddington 4s out for 71 in 23 overs. Captain Marvel, Hinay Dassani, helped himself to five poles. But, despite the Ts being desperate to get back on, the second innings never got going. 1 point each, I'm afraid.

A big-hitting South Hampstead 4s tried their best to make progress against TCC's 5th XI, ratcheting up 187-6 off 32 before being forced off. Ijaz Mehmood (2-15 off 5) did well with the new ball for the Ts, whilst Giraffe, The Wounded (occasionally known as Andy Donelan) span his way to a couple of wickets later on.

In sum, all five Twickenham sides were well-placed when the rains came. Annoying. But, well, we move on.
