No ground won, no ground lost as rain swept across Middlesex in Week 12.
All of the TCC XIs got on to the field at some point on Saturday 21 July, but none of them got remotely near forcing a result. The first XI batted for a paltry eight overs at Hornsey, Darshan Chohan losing his wicket before the rain swept in. The seconds did little better managing 19 overs on the Green. Hornsey were 68-2 when a halt was called to proceedings, Dom Thamby and Eugene Berger helping themselves to a wicket apiece.
The threes were arguably in the strongest position of the Ts' sides. Ickenham had been asked to bat at St Mary's and struggled along to 32-3 off 16.5. The 4s had make good progress against Highgate 4s, Colin Blundon getting in to six-hitting mode, notching three maximums. But after little more than a dozen overs the Tinman found his fun curtailed as everyone retired to the bar. There they found the fifths, who'd been called off at more or less the same time. Phil Walker's men weren't in such a good position, Martin Fairn (25no) the only bright light in a wobbly 52-5. The tea, however, was excellent.
Nothing ventured, nothing gained. We move on.
