2019 sees the TCC ladies moving in to cricketing pastures new. One part of that journey has involved entering a new tournament, the T20 Surrey Slam.
The Ts are in a group with Ashford, Chertsey, Shepperton, Walton and the visitors on 19 May, Guildford. One game in and the Ts are well and truly on their way; a resounding eight wicket victory saw to that (see here for the card).
Guildford took first whack and immediately hit on hard times. Moira Comfort (3-2 off 4 overs) and Jennie Kitzinger removed the first three batters without a run being notched between them as Guildford made the worst possible start. They did, however, recover - not least as extras began to come well and truly to the party - and skipper Vicky Derman's 26 gave the hosts hope that they might get themselves back in the game.
Ultimately, however, 88 never looked like being enough. Penny Thane's undefeated 40 saw to that, whilst Jess Bonstein and Rose Winter made nice cameos along the way. The Ts subsequently got home with a good five overs to spare.
The Ladies return to action in two weeks' time when they entertain Spencer.
