It's been a long wait, but finally we're back in action. Marvellous
- Carlos Nunes

It's been a long (long, long and indeed even longer) winter, but finally the grass has been cut, the sun is (sort of) shining and cricket can commence.

Nunes back in charge
The Ones are kicking off the senior season with their traditional encounter against old friends Acton. Temperatures are usually sub-zero, the wind will no doubt be coming straight from the Arctic, but it'll nonetheless be an excellent time to blow away the cobwebs and get things up and running.

Carlos Nunes makes a welcome return to lead the troops. Nunes missed all of 2020, so it really will be like bringing in a new player. Adam Mather, a tall South African quickie, makes his debut as does Euan Pickering, a promising keeper-batsman with previous Premier League experience (in Lincolnshire).

The full side is Carlos Nunes, Ajmal Allahdad, Eugene Berger, Tom Field, Val Giraud, Don Manuwelge, Adam Mather, Phil Nash, Euan Pickering, Sanjit Sandhu and Ethan Wright.

Bragging rights up for grabs
Sunday sees the first senior contest on the Green. Two Twickenham sides will go toe-to-toe in what will no doubt be a keenly fought contest. Will Hinay Dassani be tying potential first teamers up in knots? Will Chris Wylde be caressing boundaries as if they were going out of fashion? Will Geoff Stothert be sober? Questions, questions, so many questions.

Nakul Vishvanath and Connor Finney are leading the sides. Indeed, availability is so good that it could well be more-than-11-a-side.

Covid Compliant
It also goes without saying that the club is well aware of the current Covid 19 restrictions. Social distancing rules will be strictly adhered to, the changing rooms will be closed and there will be lots of hand sanitising going on. All players need to be very much aware of the rules and regulations in that regard; the skippers most certainly are, so do follow their respective leads.

In the meantime, do go well, folks. Let the cricket commence.
