The Ts bounced back from the previous day's bludgeoning by Richmond to edge past Winchmore Hill in the Middlesex Cup. In a game that at times ebbed and flowed dramatically, a solid undefeated ninth wicket partnership of 42 between Jacob Bhula and Phil Nash ultimately saw the Ts home (see here for the card).

Nash at the double
The game proved to be all-action right from the get go. Phil Nash took the new ball for the Ts and managed to remove Harry Avent (caught behind) with the very first ball of the day. Nash then followed that up by removing number three Andy Putt in exactly the same fashion with the second ball. 0-2 and the visitors were struggling.

The Hill nonetheless fought back admirably. Tobias Claridge (59 in 62) stabilised things whilst Chris Chapman scored a run-a-ball 31 towards the end. 189 all out was subsequently a lot better than it could have been. The ever-reliable Tom Field (3-32) and Jacob Bhula (3-35) were the key wicket-takers for the Ts.

In response the Ts also got off to something of a patchy start; 14-2 become 30-3 as things began to wobble a bit. Rhys Davies (42 off 60) and skipper Clint McCabe (59 off 64) injected a bit of impetus in to things, but a middle-order collapse quickly saw 138-3 become 148-8. The Ts found themselves needing 42 to win with only 2 wickets in hand.

Thankfully, cool heads were on hand to see the job through. Jakob Bhula (19 off 21) and Phil Nash (19 off 36) took their time to see the Ts in to the last 16 where they will now meet Richmond (see here). That game will take place on the 10 June at the Old Deer Park.

One final thought; fantastic to see the institution that is Holger Kriess turning out for the Ts again. Great to see you back in the fold, Holger!
