Bhula arrives in TW2 following a stunning U19 WC for the Black Caps

Jakob offers us plenty with both bat and ball and we're looking forward to welcoming him to the Green

The Ts are pleased to welcome New Zealand U19 international Jakob Bhula on board. Jakub will be joining us for the 2018 season whilst he spends time in London as an MCC Young Cricketer.

He comes with quite a pedigree. The best example of that comes in the form a 180 (!) that he scored for NZ U19 in a recent World Cup match against Kenya. A whole host of stats from that game are mind-bending, a 245 run opening partnership between Jacob and Rachin Ravindra being one of the most eye-catching. Bhula's 180 nonetheless goes down as the highest individual score ever in an U19 World Cup. It also came hot on the heels of an 83 against the West Indies four days earlier. Respect due.

Jakob's originally from Wellington and follows a now ever-growing line of high quality Kiwis to have turned out for the Ts. Current first class cricketer Leo Carter was our OP in 2016 whilst Shawn Hicks - also an MCC YC - had an outstanding 2016 with us, too. Those with longer memories will remember Pete Carey as being a super OP in our first year in the MCCL a decade or so ago.

Jakob will be arriving in the UK later this week and we're looking forward to welcoming him on board. Fingers crossed he's brought the hand warmers for the first warm up game at Acton; the last time we played there and it was above 10C was about 1983!
