Friday saw the annual Middlesex Colts Association West Area awards evening. At a busy Sunbury CC each of the winners of all the 2017 Colts leagues and cups received plaques and trophies. For the first time in quite a while Twickenham CC had a couple of representatives with our U11s and U12s celebrating their success in 2017 by picking up their League Champions plaques.
Thanks to the players and parents who came along to collect the plaques (I'm sure more colts would have wanted to attend but due to the size of the venue we couldn't take everyone - in the end we invited those colts who had made the most appearances for their team during the season).
It’s also worth quickly mentioning the final award presented at the awards evening - The Spirit of Cricket award. Though Kew CC took home this trophy on the evening Twickenham CC were very close to taking this honour. Each team throughout the west area gets two votes to nominate the teams, who they felt, played in the best spirit. The votes received by a Club are then divided by the number of teams they had represented in the Leagues. It was by this process of averaging out that Twickenham CC just missed out to Kew CC as the ‘T’s received by far the most votes of all the teams within the West Area. We would not have received as many votes as we did if it wasn’t for all the time, effort and dedication shown by everyone involved in the Colts sections – that's Coaches, Colts and Parents – all helping and making sure that we play our cricket in a positive way. A big thanks to everyone and hopefully we'll be back at the 2018 awards evening!
