5ths have already won, but four other TCC teams in Saturday action

The way selection panned out this week last week's 5th XI batting hero, Phil Walker, nearly found himself batting in the 1st XI's middle order. We nonetheless felt we'd better give him another week lower down to prove himself
- Paul Johnson

The ones move in to week 4 looking to get their season up and running. A bit of bad luck (week 2 against Teddington), a bit of inspired batting by Adam London (week 3 against RIchmond) and a bit of bad cricket (week 1 against Finchley) sees the Ts bottom of the pile (see here for the table).

Gurjit Sandhu leads a side with plenty of runs in it and a bowling unit looking to try and build on that strong Teddington performance. It's a midday kick off at Bromyard Avenue as the Ts take on Shepherd's Bush. The Ts' 11 is Gurjit Sandhu, Ajmal Allahdad, Rhys Davies, Tom Field, Tom Grundy, Don Manuwelge, Clint McCabe, Phil Nash, Dave Russell, Sanjit Sandhu and Nakul Vishvanath

Twos welcome Ealing
The 2nds welcome Ealing to the Green. Both the Ts and their visitors have had mixed starts to the season and they currently find themselves nestled in the middle of the table (see here). Eugene Berger has had to shuffle his pack and their is something of an experimental nature about his starting XI.

The Northern warhorse, Geoff Stothert, offers some wrought iron girders in the middle of the innings (and indeed with the ball), whilst the Earl of Twirl, Anu Agarwal, will be looking to repeat his heroics for the 2s in week 18 of last season. Ravneet Kapoor debuts, whilst Jay Plaha and Hayden Tyler will be looking to make their mark. The side is Eugene Berger, Anu Agarwal, Firooz Ahmed, Raveneet Kapoor, Nikhil Nomula, Jay Plaha, Ozzie Qavi, Varad Rampal, Geoff Stothert, Hayden Tyler and Ethan Wright.

3s take the strain

Steve Watts also finds himself spinning the selection wheel as the threes welcome Finchley to St Mary's. Both sides are again in mid-table although they no doubt have their eyes glancing upwards rather than downwards (see here for the table). Trustee Ts steads Stu Amos, Martin Fairn, Nihal Tomar, Tony Hill (fresh from a decisive four wicket haul in week 2) and JP Bowman will be leading from the front, whilst Robbie Bosier and Connor Finney will be looking to add a bit of that certain Je ne sais quoi. The full side is Steve Watts, Kranthi Akulpay, Stuart Amos, Robbie Bosier, JP Bowman, Martin Fairn, Connor Finney, Ant Hill, Karandeep Singh, Nihal Tomar and Paddy Wheeler.

4s welcome Acton
Hinay Dassani's 4th XI welcome old friends Acton to Broom Road. Acton and Twickenham have both registered one win so far this season although the Ts currently sit two points above the Park Club side (see here). Dassani hasn't quite had to go back to persuading people doing their Friday evening shopping in Tesco to come and play for him (a favoured tactic for recruiting players in years gone by), but this week he has had to dig deep to get a full XI together.

Trusty lieutenant Uzzi Khan will be looking to lead from the front as he opens, whilst Chris Wylde and Paddy Turish will be aiming to make an impact as they step up from the fives. Last week's 80 run, six-hitting machine, Phil Walker, will also be looking to be carrying on his good recent form whilst Astound's James Joyce is also in the side to make runs. Hopefully. Young Nikhil Chapiniya has also caught the eye of late, fingers crossed he continues his good progress.

5ths let down. Again.
Week 4 began for the Twickenham CC 5th XI much as too many other weeks have begun; with their opposition crying off. The ten points is all well and good and with a fair wind Paramdeep Saini's troops will be in a promotion slot come 8pm on Saturday evening (see here for the current table), but in the end you want to play and not playing on a warm summer Saturday is a bit of a let down. The fifths subsequently move on to June hoping to spend more time out in the middle.

Go well everyone.
