Five league games plus a Cricket World Cup; what a weekend to be alive!

Remember, if you can't win, make sure you don't lose
- Paul Johnson

Week 6 of the 2019 campaign sees all of the Twickenham sides move from limited overs cricket in to the timed format of the game.

1s travel to Finchley
For the second week on the trot the ones are hitting the road. Carlos Nunes’s men travel to Finchley looking to catapult themselves away from the relegation zone. Finchley are currently winless and bottom of the log (see here); a big fat W in the wins column would be most welcome.

The big selection news is that both Rhys Davies and Parminder Singh are back in the side. Over the years Parminder in particular has really excelled in this form of the game. Fingers crossed that that continues. Sanjit Sandhu, Ethan Wright and Rishi Kanjani also come back in to the side as Nunes rings the changes.

The team is Carlos Nunes, Rhys Davies, Rishi Kanjani, Ben Leale-Green, Don Manuwelge, Lewis Mitchard, Scott Newman, Sanjit Sandhu, Parminder Singh, Ishi Singh Sohi and Ethan Wright

2s welcome Stanmore
The seconds have a potentially challenging encounter with Stanmore to look forward to. Stanmore are currently five from five and eight points clear at the top of the table (see here). They’ll certainly pose a stiff challenge for the Ts.

Eugene Berger misses out on account of work commitments, so Nakul Vishvanath takes over the captaincy duties. Vishvanath will hope that there’s no hangover from last week’s narrow defeat against MTSSC. Nihal Tomar makes a return to the 2s, as does both Ajmal Allahdad and the in-form Phil Nash. The flight and guile of Tony Hill could well also be on show.

The side is Nakul Vishvanath, Ajmal Allahdad, Pushtak Arsikere, Kevin Cavilla, Sam Cliffe, Steve Cowley, Tony Hill, Phil Nash, Nikhil Nomula, Dom Thamby and Nihal Tomar.

Thirds play Brondesbury … at Edmonton!
Steve Watts’s third XI continue to clock up the air miles. They play Brondesbury … over in Edmonton! Rumours that as it is such a trek an overnight stay has been arranged can’t, however, be substantiated.

Like the twos, the threes face a real challenge. Brondesbury are currently second, pushing a strong Ealing side hard for the top spot (see here). Watts is able to bring in Jack Wylie to strengthen the top order, whilst Olli George returns to bolster the middle order engine room. Nisar Abidi, following a promising debut for the club on Sunday at Byfleet, also comes in, as does Hayden Tyler.

The team is Steve Watts, Robbie Bosier, JP Bowman, Hiran Dissanayake, Oli George, Ozzie Qavi, Nisar Abidi, Parampreet Singh, Hayden Tyler and Jack Wylie.

Fours welcome Richmond
The fours will be looking to extend their unbeaten run further when they welcome Richmond to Broom Road.

Two of the five games in Division Five B have actually already been decided. Indian Gymkhana and South Hampstead have fallen foul of the inclement weather and they have already decided it’ll have to be one point each. No bad thing for the Ts as Indian Gym are one of their promotion rivals. MTSSC have also conceded their game against Acton meaning that the Ts – as things stand – slipped back to second in the log (see here).

Hinay Dassani brings in Anil Bhatt following an excellent five-fer in the 5s last week, whilst Martin Fairn and Nitin Parab also return. Gilly Sanchez also finds himself making his seasonal debut for the fours.

The side is Hinay Dassani, Anil Bhatt, Colin Blunden, Rajdeep Chaudhary, Martin Fairn, Uzzi Khan, Mehran Iqbal, Nitin Parab, Vijay Sanas, Gil Sanchez and Chetan Ubale.

Fifths travel to Chiswick
The fifths got off the mark with an emphatic win last week against Perivale. Week 6 sees them face a tougher challenge when they travel to local rivals Chiswick. Their hosts are one of three sides that’ve won four from five (see here); if Chris Wylde’s men can continue their winning run then a corner really will have been well and truly turned.

Wylde finds himself able to call on all-rounder Zafar Ali and Pete Burke makes a welcome return. James Foster comes in for his seasonal debut and it’s fantastic to see Brian Thorne’s name back on the team sheet. Anir Guharaja will also certainly be looking to go big in terms of runs.

The full side is Chris Wylde, Zafar Ali, Jon, Bosier, Pete Burke, Andy Donelan, James Foster, Anir Guharaja, Paul McLoughlin, Harmeet Singh, Brian Thorne and Phil Walker
