U11s march on
That's two in two!
Dinah Washington sung 'What a difference a day makes' and boy was she right. From 25 degrees on Tuesday back to good old early season cricketing weather on Wednesday of 12 degrees, the U11s continued the good early season form on Twickenham Green with a win against Indian Gymkhana.
After winning the toss and putting Indian Gym into bat, the boys took a bit of time to get in their rhythm and the opening pair of Rehan and Unshul began to settle until about the 6th over when Ollie came on and broke up the opening pair with a wonderful first ball trapping Unshul LBW . His next ball was also a corker, and I'm sure that DRS would have had No 3, Ziad, out but the umpire decided it was too tight to call. But Ts kept the pressure on with good fielding and bowling although 'Mr Wides' started to raise his head a bit too far above the parapet for coaches liking (back to the drawing then!) With two good run outs and a good caught and bowled by Asa, Indian Gym were restricted to only 93 off their 20 overs.
Ollie and Asa opened the batting and settled quickly, with Asa punishing some loose bowling scoring six runs in as many balls and keeping the strike rotated until he was undone by a bowl that seemed to slow up on the pitch and he edged behind. Miles joined Ollie in ten middles and continued to work hard with Ollie, following on from his excellent bowling, started to take the attack to Indian Gym hitting successive fours pushing the score along. Miles decided he didn't want to be left out and weighed in with a few fours himself. After crafting a lovely 31 Ollie was finally bowled but left Ts in a healthy position. Jack joined Miles and continued to push the score along until Miles retired (not out) on 29. Bart (Basher) Boyd joined the fray with only 10 needed to win and after a quick single and a few runs from Jack only 5 was required. Bart's eyes lit up when a ball was flighted and he saw glory until he had a 'bash'too early and was bowled. Danny joined Jack to see out the win with 6 overs to go. Well done to the boys and another good performance in the field.
Many thanks again to everyone who chipped in to help set up and put away. Thanks for Ali and Liam for scoring. Thanks to Nigel for opening the bar. A huge thank you to Ruben for stepping in at the last minute after an injury to Thomas before kick off - we wish him well in his recovery and look forward to seeing him back in the ranks very soon.
And last but certainly not least thanks for your support, as this is always greatly appreciated but make sure you bring the sunshine next week!
