Business end of the season incoming for the Ts’ senior sides

Business end of the season incoming for the Ts’ senior sides

Dan Hough22 Aug - 09:47

Opportunities abound for Twickenham in Week 16 of the MCCL

Four of the five Twickenham senior sides are in action on 23 August 2025. The twos are the side that miss out (they have their bye week), but they still be watching the performances of their promotion rivals with interest. Indeed, Eastcote (top) play Stanmore (third), so whichever way they look at it the twos will be well set for promotion when they kick back into action in Week 17 (see here for the table).

Ones travel to Acton
The ones bounce back into action in Week 16. They travel to Acton.

Acton are on a decidedly decent run. Not only did they beat (read, ‘hammer’) Twickenham in the Middlesex Cup on Sunday 17 August, they have bludgeoned their way into the promotion race (see here for the table). It’s still likely that two from Twickenham, Finchley and Brondesbury will go up, but the odds on Sahil Kher’s team gatecrashing are shortening by the week.

Twickenham, meanwhile, know that if they win on Saturday and Brondesbury come off second best at Indian Gym then they will be promoted. Eyes on the ball….

Carlos Nunes has what’s basically a full-strength squad to choose from. Indeed, the tricky questions involved who to leave out. Ultimately, Nunes has gone with the following XI.

The 1st XI is Carlos Nunes, Patrick Dixon, Preet Himanshukumar, Ben Leale-Green, Don Manuwelge, Adam Mather, Angus McKenzie, Akash Multani, Angus Parker, Gurjit Sandhu and Neville Talbot.

Threes host Wycombe House
Just as Acton are making a late dash into the Div One promotion race, so are the Twickenham 3rd XI in Div Three of the third tier.

Robbie Bosier’s side sit joint third, level on points with Hornsey. That leaves them eight points behind second placed Bessborough and 15 behind Perivale (who the threes impressively defeated last week). See here for the ladder.

In Week 16 Twickenham host Wycombe House. The House are struggling and need points – and pretty quickly – to help them get out of the relegation quagmire. They currently sit ten points behind Stanmore so a minimum of two wins from three are needed at their end.

The Ts are able to call on what’s become a pretty settled side. Nishan Singh will be a handful with the new cherry, whilst young batting prodigy Milan Gurjal will be looking to build on the century he scored two weeks ago. Throw in the wily old troika of Hunt, Ahmad and Siriwardena and the Ts will be looking to keep their momentum very much going.

The 3rd XI is Robbie Bosier, Mo Ahmad, Rohith Doma, Anush Ganesh, Ollie George, Milan Gurjal (wk), Jonty Hunt, Nishan Singh, Praween Siriwardena, Dom Thamby and Dev Tomlinson.

Fours travel to Brentham
Division Five B of the third tier is looking every more intriguing (see here). Both the 4s and the 5s have business to attend to, the fours at the top end and the fives in their battle for survival.

The fours have a game in hand over both the teams above them, Chiswick 4s and Ealing Trailfinders 3s. Chiswick are already up, but Trailfinders are just the two points ahead of the Ts. Trailfinders play the (almost) doomed Chiswick 5s, so the pressure is on the Ts to keep up the chase as the sides move into Week 17. And, indeed, Week 18, when the two sides meet in what could be quite the showdown.

Hinay Dassani’s XI has a familiar ring to it. Mehran Iqbal – fresh from his 16th (!) five-wicket-haul for the Ts in Week 15 – plays, as do the other parts of the fast-bowling quartet, Shah Bozdar, Hinay Dassani and Akshay Kumar. It’s the West Indies of the 1980s reincarnate at Broom Road in Teddington.

Plus,, Kumar and Dassani put on the small matter of an undefeated 64 for the final wicket against SKLP last week, Kumar boshing his way to 54no. Two all-rounders in the making? Quite possibly.

Jarryd Knot – another all-rounder who’s impressed in 2025 – is also back, as are Anir Dontula, Harry Tebb and the legend that is Andy Donelan. The fours are looking good.

The 4th XI is Hinay Dassani, Shah Bozdar, Andy Donelan, Anir Dontula, Mehran Iqbal, Jarryd Knott, Akshay Kumar, Frankie Lingemann, Eljiaz Mahmood, Harry Tebb and Liam Tebb (wk).

Fives hit the road to Wycombe House 4s
The fives have played some good cricket in 2025. Yet, they don’t quite have the points that their performances merit. They need two wins from three to stay up. Ideally, the first of those will be on the radar on Saturday.

Wycombe House 4s currently sit fifth but, the bottom of Div 5B being what it is, they aren’t quite safe yet. They need a few more points before they can set off for the proverbial beach.

The fives have that classic mix of experience and youthful panache. Or, if one were to choose to phrase it thus, old farts plus the young and naïve. Marvellous.

Skipper Jon Bosier brings in the Sultan of Swing, Pete Burke. To add to that (lack of) pace, there’s Thomas Hopkins and Puneet Sahota; two players who certainly can fizz it through a little quicker. Harmeet Singh will tweak and twirl merrily, whilst the troika of McLoughlin, Hough and Salgotra will be up for getting some runs on the board. As will the ebullient Sean Daly. Gaffer Bosier has reason to be positive.

The 5th XI is Jon Bosier, Pete Burke, Sean Daly, Thomas Hopkins, Dan Hough, Paul McLoughlin, Puneet Sahota, Sourav Salgotra, Manas Shah, Harmeet Singh and Adam Tebb.

Go well everyone.
