Centurion Ronnie Riddett leads U12s to victory

Dan Hough7 May - 15:49

First league century for the Ts in 2025, and U12 Ronnie Riddett is the man to provide it

Twickenham CC's U12s cruised past Richmond on 6 May, winning by 27 runs (see here for the card). The man at the centre of all the action was Ronnie Riddett - he had a night that he's going to remember for quite some time to come.

Riddett gets there....just!

The Ts won the toss and opted to have a bat. Riddett opened......and indeed was there at the end as the hosts put an impressive 166 on the board.

Riddett and Austin Belshaw (24 off 33 balls) put on 76 for the first wicket, and it wasn't long after that that Riddett moved past 50 (off 48 balls). It was, however, in the last four overs that Riddett really went to town.

By the time the Ts reached the 20th over, Riddett was on 91. Anay Singh (9no off 11), however, was on strike and well aware that if Riddett was going to get to his century then he needed to get to the other end. That he did, leaving Riddett with just enough time to get to three figures. Indeed, Riddett only needed 13 balls to move from 50 to 100. Impressive stuff indeed.

Ts' bowlers take the strain
The Richmond top order certainly didn't shrink from the task before them. Archis Jamkhedkar (21 off 24) and Arham Jain (30 off 41) kept things moving, but three run outs and three wickets for the man of the moment Riddett soon forced them onto the back foot.

Gonzalo Sanz-Castro (1-15), Ishaan Jain (1-20) and Jack Cornelius (a wicket maiden) also joined the wicket-taking party as the Ts ultimately defended their total with something to spare.

The win means the Ts currently sit top of Division Three with two wins from two (see here). With Kew struggling to raise a side in this age group, it looks like the Ts will have to wait until Wednesday 21 May for their next game. They travel to third placed Hampton Wick Royal then.
