It’s been a long, tough summer for all of the Twickenham senior sides. But, for two of them – the ones and the twos – the season’s aims might be fulfilled this coming Saturday. The ones know that a win at the weekend will see them crowned champions and the twos will be promoted if they win in the Shepherd’s Cot against North London.
The threes are still just about in the promotion race, and a win against second placed Bessborough will see the battle for the top two slots go all the way down to Week 18. The fours will definitely be in an all or nothing promotion showdown in Week 18, but a win in Week 17 will give them the advantage should the rain gods get involved on the final day.
Finally, the 5ths are on the charge. A pulsating win last week against Wycombe House sees them level on points with SKLP. And they meet in Hamm on Saturday…..
Ones host Indian Gym
The ones have had an impressive 2026. They’ve played some excellent cricket and crucially they’ve mastered the art of keeping their powder dry and winning close games.
That means that they currently sit 14 points clear of second placed Finchley and 16 ahead of Brondesbury. A win against 7th placed Indian Gym on Saturday will see Carlos Nunes’s side back into the Premier League (see here for the table).
Nunes makes two changes from the side that won last week against Acton. Nev Talbot is unavailable so Sami Shori comes in to open the batting. Nikhil Nomula also returns in place of Adam Mather.
The 1st XI is Carlos Nunes, Pat Dixon, Preet Himanshukumar, Ben Leale-Green, Don Manuwelge, Angus McKenzie, Akash Multani, Nikhil Nomula, Angus Parker, Gurjit Sandhu and Sami Shori.
Twos are off to North London
The twos hit the road knowing that they can also seal promotion in Week 17. There are a number of potential machinations in play, but the bottom line is simple. Win at North London and they are up (see here for the table).
Skipper Blake van der Linde has pulled a fetlock so is forced to take a watching brief. The same can be said for Eugene Berger – he’s restricted to braai-ing duties all weekend.
But, the twos still travel in confident mood. Ethan Wright is due a few at the top of the order, Ali Jennings returns to take charge of the new ball. Greg Nielson is also back, while Phil Nash, James Smith and Anush Ganesh have all been around long enough to marshall sides through games like this.
The 2nd XI is Sanjit Sandhu, Mo Ahmad, Anush Ganesh, Margin Kantilal, Ali Jennings, Phil Nash, Greg Nielson, Varad Rampal (wk), James Smith, Callum Watson and Ethan Wright.
Threes travel to Bessborough
The ones and twos have their destiny in their own hands. The threes do not. They do, however, still have a chance of going up, but that’s going to involve beating two of the sides above them in the last two games of the season (see here for the table). Possible, but also a real challenge.
Skipper Robbie Bosier is certainly not one to die not knowing. He’ll be going all out to achieve 20 points. Bosier will be pleased to see Alex Lowe back in the side, whilst it’s also good to see young Aarush Jain in the ranks. Monish Malhotra has also been in the runs, as has Milan Gurjal. The threes travel in hope.
The 3rd XI is Robbie Bosier, Rohith Doma, Milan Gurjal (wk), Alex Lowe,, Aarush Jain, Frankie Lingemann, Monish Malhotra, Nishan Singh, Praween Siriwardena, Mark Smith and Dom Thamby.
Fours host Chiswick 5s
The fours know that Week 18 is where it’s at for them. Regardless of how they get on in Week 17 they face a win-at-all-costs contest with Ealing Trailfinders (who are on a bye week on Saturday) to decide who joins Chiswick 4s in going up (see here for the table).
Week 17 might, however, still be more important than it perhaps looks. If it rains in Week 18 then it’ll obviously be good to be in the promotion zone. In order to do that the fours need to make no mistake against already relegated Chiswick 5s on Saturday.
Dassani’s team looks very much ready for the task. Steve Cowley is in and that adds some firepower to the top of the order. Manah Shah is up from the fives, while Matt Parker adds something different with the ball. The fast-bowling quartet of Dassani, Kumar, Iqbal and Bozdar looks as strong as ever.
The 4th XI is Hinay Dassani, Shah Bozdar, Steve Cowley, Anir Dontula, Mehran Iqbal, Jarryd Knott, Akshay Kumar, Eljiaz Mahmood, Matt Parker, Manas Shah and Liam Tebb (wk).
Fives go toe-to-toe with SKLP
For the fifths, it’s now or never….
They won a knickergripper of epic proportions in Week 16, eeking out a one wicket win against Wycombe House. Even though the House lost, the two points they gained was enough – barring all but the most ridiculous set of results – to see them safe for another season. It also means that one of the fives or SKLP fours will be going down. Sure enough, they meet on Saturday.
A win at the weekend won’t secure survival for either side, but it will take them a lot closer to that goal. Skipper Jon Bosier is keeping his selection cards close to his chest. All will be revealed on Friday evening.
Go well everyone.
