MCCL Week 13: Preview

MCCL Week 13: Preview

Dan Hough

Big games incoming for all the Twickenham sides in Week 13 of the MCCL

There's a relegation showdown for the ones as North Middlesex roll into town. The twos travel round the North Circular to lock horns with North Midd’s second string. The threes are also off on a bit of a journey; they travel to fourth placed Enfield 3s. The fours are at Broom Road playing OMTs, the fives are off to third placed Ealing Trailfinders.

Ones host fellow strugglers North Midd
The ones have had a tough campaign. Injuries and unavailabilities have really affected any attempt at getting into a winning rhythm. The whole season has turned into one hard slog.

Week 13 of the MCCL campaign is proving little different in that regard. Still, Ross Talmage comes back in and that is at least something, while Ethan Wright will be hoping to take his good form at the top of the order in the twos into premier league cricket.

The 1st XI is Carlos Nunes, Pat Dixon, Preet Himanshukumar, Tom Hopkins, Ali Jennings, Margin Kantilal, Akash Multani, Dru Shori, Ross Talmage, Oliver White and Ethan Wright.

Twos travel to North Midd
Given that the ones have really struggled to field a settled side, the selection carousel has inevitably been ever-turning for the twos. This week is no different.

While a few faces are indeed absent, it’s good to see Twickenham’s most impressive male model, Val Giruad, back and briefed in terms of taking the new ball. Dom Thamby is likely to be joining him there.

Eugene Berger has been a consistent performer this season and having him back in the ranks will also help. The promising Milan Gurjal comes in behind the stumps, whilst the rarely spotted Wes Hurn is also making an appearence.

The 2nd XI is James Smith, Eugene Berger, Rajdeep Choudhary, Ollie George, Val Giraud, Milan Gurjal, Wes Hurn, Syed Mehdi, Nikhil Nomula, Nishan Singh and Dom Thamby.

Threes travel to Enfield
The twos might feel that they have a bit of a trek on their hands; Robbie Bosier’s threes will simply say ‘hold my beer’.

Bosier and co are off to fourth placed Enfield. The threes lost in Week 12, but they still maintain an interest in the promotion race. That interest, however, won’t survive a defeat at Enfield on Saturday.

Ed Grantham – a man who played cricket the day before he got married a couple of weeks back (respect due!) – returns from his honeymoon. He’ll be in the mood for runs.

Joey Hazell also adds value to the batting, Alex Penwill will no doubt be hoping to make an impact with the ball. Say it quietly, the threes travel with a job needing to be done.

The 3rd XI is Rob Bosier, Barty Boyd, Sean Daly, Rohit Duma, Ed Grantham, Joey Hazell, Jonty Hunt, Max Hunt, Holger Kriess, Alex Penwill and Praween Siriwardena.

Fours host OMTs
The fours won’t be needing to set any early alarm calls. They welcome, for the very first time, OMTs to Broom Road for what’s believed to be the very first time.

Matt Parker played a starring role for the fives in Week 12, and he is rewarded for that with promotion to the Dassani Army. Steve Cowley is also in and that adds more heft to the top order, whilst the Tebbs (Liam and Harry) also find themselves back in the ranks.

The 4th XI is Hinay Dassani, Shah Bozdar, Steve Cowley, Andy Donelan, Martin Fairn, Frankie Lingeman, Eijaz Mahmood, Matt Parker, Harry Tebb, Liam Tebb and Chris Wylde.

Fives are off to Ealing Trailfinders 4s
The fives are doing all they can to hunt down Teddington 4s at the top of Division 6A. At the moment the gap’s 18 points, so the Ts really do need to keep winning.

Ealing Trailfinders won’t be pushovers, though. They sit third.

Skipper Jon Bosier’s now (just about) fit enough to play so he returns to lead the troops. Ali Malik comes in as does the redoubtable Ronnie Riddett. Ryan Oakes also adds value with both bat and ball.

Sourav Salgotra, a man who performed admirably in the Week 12 success over Chiswick, also plays, as does Jon Goddard behind the sticks.

The 5th XI is Jon Bosier, Terone Alexander, Pete Burke, Jon Goddard, Ali Malik, Paul Mcloughlin, Peter Miller, Ryan Oakes, Ronnie Riddett, Sourav Salgotra and Lloyd Townsend.

Go well everyone!
