The 2026 season has been a decidedly topsy-turvy affair for the Ts' MDL squad. Some defeats, but some memorable wins. Sunday's encounter at Wycombe House most definitely fits into the latter camp (see here for the card).

Parker's decent weekend continues
Wycombe House had first hit and put 191 on the board from their 40 overs. Keeper-batter Tayyab Aftab led the way, hitting 60 (87 balls) before leg spinner Matt Parker bowled him. Parker very much carrying on from where he'd left off with the 5ths the day before there.

Aftab to one side, the rest of the Wycombe House batting failed to fire. Ronnie Riddett removed the only other batter to get to 20, Mourya Pulusu. Max Hunt, meanwhile, picked up 2-25 off his eight overs. Freddie Steel and gaffer Ali Jennings also registered in the wickets-taken column.

The Ts' tail wages merrily away
In reply, Twickenham started reasonably before suffering a significant attack of the batting collywobbles.

Both Barty Boyd (10 off 21) and Milan Gurjal (a breezy 14 off 9) started well enough, and once they went Ali Jennings (19 off 29) and Monish Malhotra (19 off 31) carried that on. But, 51-2 became 66-4 and then 85-6. The Ts were rocking.

By the time Hamish Johnston was run out Twickenham had slipped to 95-7. 96 needed and only three wickets left. A good game to win from there....

Stand up Frankie Lingeman. He was another who'd had a decent Saturday, smashing 70 for the fours in their winning draw. He was clearly in the mood to carry that on, hitting 40 off 42 as the Ts launched a counter attack.

Still, when Lingeman was out Twickenham needed 38 to win. No problem for Freddie Steel and Matt Parker. Steel (34no off 45) took his time, Parker opted not to mess about; he hit two fours and a six on his way to a belligerent 23no (off 17 balls).

Job done!
