The Twickenham CC Women's side had fun in the sun as they cruised past Thames Ditton on 19 July (see here for the card). Kimberley Abbott and Ursula Fletcher-Ogden were the stars of the show as the Ts cemented their second place in Div 3 North of the Surrey Championship (see here).

Strong bowling from the Ts
The Ts have been playing Thames Ditton for a long time. A very long time. Indeed, the first game between the sides took place back in 1833 and the scorecard hangs in Thames Ditton's pavilion. An exact copy is in the pavilion on Twickenham Green.

That very first game was a low-scoring affair. The contest between the two clubs' women's sides wasn't quite in the same bracket, but it certainly wasn't a match where runs flowed freely.

Only one Thames Ditton player, Ella Andersen, managed to make it to double figures, as the hosts slipped to 56 all out.

The lively Ursula Fletcher-Ogden caused many of the problems. She registered 3-8 off her three overs. Karen Wilton (2-15 off 4) tweaked and twirled merrily away, El Doherty raced in to claim 2-15 off 4. Kimberley Abbott and Lucy Webster were also in the wickets.

In reply, the Ts decided that there was no point in hanging around. The runs needed to come and they needed to come quickly.

Angela Clark hit a couple of boundaries, and alongside the ebullient Kimberley Abbott they put 32 on for the first wicket.

Emma Flynn came in at three and she decided that if everyone else wanted to hustle and bustle their way to the target, then that was their business. She wasn't going to be unduly rushed. Flynn made sure she was there at the end alongside Abbott (34no off 23). Job done and all in less than eight overs.

The next game for the Ts comes on 2 August. They travel to fourth placed Walton-on-Thames.
