Eight long months of cricketless Saturdays are officially at an end. Yep, Saturday 18 April 2026 sees the first outdoor game of cricket by a Twickenham team this side of Hogmanay. Marvellous.
Freezer Match no more?
Much as tradition dictates, Twickenham start their pre-season with a trip to our friends at Acton. Tradition also generally has it that the weather is freezing and four jumpers are an absolute must. There, well, it doesn't look like 2026 is playing ball. The sun is likely to be shining and, who knows, it may even be that suncream is needed....
Skipper Carlos Nunes won't be able to lead the troops, so his trusty stalwart, Don Manuwelge, will captain the side. A number of the team that saw the Ts win the Division One title will be in attendance; Ben Leale-Green will be behind the stumps, Akash Multani will be spinning his webs and Preet Himanshukumar will be looking forward to getting some runs on the board. Adam Mather will no doubt be steaming in, whilst the newly appointed manager of the U9s, Ethan Wright, will batting up top.
There are, however, a few newer (and not so new) names in the starting line up. Syed Mehdi comes with a burgeoning reputation, Margin Kantilal was quietly efficient in the twos last year. Dru Shori debuts whilst old war horse Nakul Vishvanath is also back and indeed raring to go.
The full Twickenham side is as follows.
Don Manuwelge, Preet Himanshukumar, Margin Kantilal, Ben Leale-Green (wk), Adam Mather, Heath Mather, Syed Mehdi, Akash Multani, Dru Shori, Nakul Vishvanath and Ethan Wright.
Go well everyone!
