The Twickenham CC U12s completed a famous troika of triumphs on Thursday 3 July, beating Hampton Wick Royal's A side convincingly and thereby ensuring three titles in three days (U10s, U13s and now U12s) for the club. It really has been quite the week.
Jain and Singh grab three wickets apiece
The U12s have had an impressive season. Not only have they finished top dogs in Division Three, they've done it with a game to spare (see here for the table). Magnificent stuff.
The die was cast in terms of finishing top of the tree when they convincingly beat Hampton Wick Royal's A side on 3 July. The visitors won the toss, had a bat, and put 94 on the board (see here). Zach Smith was the star of the batting show, boshing 26 off just 16 balls. Zack Davies (19 off 39) and Theo Mudunkotuwe (18 off 17) also chipped in, but those three aside the Wick really struggled to get things moving.
One of the main reasons for that was the impressive bowling of Ishaan Jain. He took three wickets in his three overs and only conceded a miserly 11 runs. Anay Singh followed that lead; he, too, too three wickets (3-13) off his three and with that the Hampton Wick middle order was well and truly decimated.
Chuck in a couple of miserly overs by Ronnie Riddett (0-3 off 2) and Elias Iqbal (0-6 off 2), and wickets for James Marsh (1-9) and Henry Luke (1-4) and the Ts were flowing along nicely.
Leading from the front
In reply the Ts made pretty short work of the chase. Skipper Ronnie Riddett set the tone, boshing 40 (off 43 balls) at the top. Johnny May followed his captain's lead, calmly holding the fort with 21no off 22.
Austin Belshaw's stay at the crease was a bit shorter, but he did hit one six along the way, leaving the ever-reliable James Marsh (11no off just 6 balls) to see the Ts over the winning line.
The 20 points gained sees Twickenham move 26 points clear of second placed Richmond B. They finish their campaign at Hampton Hill B on Tuesday 8 July.
Great stuff, well done one and all.
