Thumping win for the U10s on Kew Green

Sam Allen, Jack Baran and Edie MCCarthy lead the way as the Twickenham U10s shine

The Twickenham CC U10s secured their second win of the 2026 campaign thanks to an impressive performance against Kew on Kew Green. Both batters and bowlers came to the party as the Ts ultimately came out victorious by a bombastic 130 runs (see here for the card).

Wickets tumble
Kew had first hit and seemed to hit the ground running. Haris Ghauri opened the batting and put 9 (14 balls) on the board. He wasn't out, either, always a plus.

Ghauri's knock was, however, undoubtedly the high point for the hosts. From then on in the Ts' bowlers took control and the regular clatter of wickets meant that the visitors got well ahead of the game. Annie May (2-15 off 3) and particularly Edie McCarthy (a magnificent 3-1 off 2) caused a fair degree of carnage, before Jack Baran (also three wickets for just the one run) and Sam Allen (2-2) heaped more misery on the Kew batters. The hosts ended on 196.

Boom boom Baran!
The Ts knew that sensible batting would see them home. For the most part that's exactly how they played it, too.

Annie May batted nicely up top, as did Billy Webb in the second pair. Noah de Vos and James Petrou went in three and although they didn't smash the ball everywhere, neither was out and the score kept ticking along.

The real entertainment nonetheless came towards the end of the Twickenham innings. Sammy Allen hit hard and was good value for his 25 (21 balls). Gus Joyce (11 off 14) followed that lead but it was Jack Baran, scoring at a rate of 200, who really set the scoreboard alight (26 off 13). The Ts closed on an impressive 326.

The win sees the Ts latch on to a group of sides in the middle of Division Three of the U10 league (see here). They nonetheless take a break from league action next; on Thursday they host Richmond in the quarter-final of the cup. Could be an interesting one.
