Nikhil Nomula saves the day in bowler's afternoon on the Green

As weekends go, Nikhil Nomula has had a (more than) decent one
- Paul Johnson

The Ts welcomed SKLP CC to the Green on Sunday 11 August for what in effect was the final game of the Twickenham CC Cricket Week (see here for the card). This was, in other words, the 9th day in succession with a senior game of cricket on the Green. Given that that particular cricketing marathon was coming to an end, only the hardcore and truly committed were able to don the whites and fly the TCC flag.

SKLP struggle to 120
SKLP had first hit and struggled gamely to 120 all out. The number three, V. Pindolia, was the backbone of that, posting 41. Only Aashil Pindolia (18) really looked like he was going to partner him for any length of time, although Alpesh Hirani did still give things a decent go from number 10.

For the Ts, Hinay Dassani had an outbreak of maidenitis, bowling no less than five in his eight over spell, claiming two wickets in the process. Nikhil Nomula (3-17 off 7.3) was the star of the show, with honourable mentions to Vedant Jain for his 1-17 off 8 and to Richie Saunders for poaching his first wicket of the campaign!

Nomula saves the day
Small totals can often be awkward to chase, and that proved once again to be the case this time round. Rajdeep Chaudhary (15) struggled in to double figures, but few others got that far. Indeed, at 62-6 it was very much game on.

Step up Nomula to make the difference. Having helped himself to a massive 164 against Uxbridge the day before, it would be something of an understatement to say that he was in decent nick. So, whilst others around him were flailing and failing he carried on serenely to register an undefeated 44 and see the Ts home.

As ever when Twickenham play SKLP, the game was played in an excellent spirit. We look forward to reconvening next year.
