For the 2026 season Twickenham CC is creating a brand-new girls’ section.
This is something that the club has wanted to do for a while. The initiative has a clear focus on building a fun, welcoming, and structured environment for young girls to get into the game. The girls are welcome to take part in open cricket (i.e. Allstars, mixed-gender junior games and so on) but the club is also keen on creating an environment where girls can play with and against other girls.
The programme, led by qualified (female) coaches, will run over 12 weeks. The sessions will take place on Friday evenings and will be held on Twickenham Green. The initiative is open to U9, U10, U11 and U12 girls (so, school years 4, 5, 6 and 7).
To encourage new players and purposefully remove barriers to entry, there will be an introductory membership fee of £50 for the season. That will cover all 12 of the Friday sessions and indeed costs associated with (if things progress as planned) perhaps playing some matches against other clubs.
Sign-up information can be found here.
We'll be hosting a Zoom session for all interested parents in the last week of April. Keep an eye out for more details.
As ever, if you've any questions, do fire them over to either the club chairman (Eugene Berger) or the club secretary (Dan Hough)
