The sun didn't quite vanish on Sunday 6th July, but it did have to fight mighty hard to make an appearance as rain and thunder clouds got in the way. In those circumstances, a good game is a quick game, and the TCC Women wasted little time in getting the job done. They hammered Beddington by ten wickets (see here for the card).
Doherty leads from the front
Beddington won the toss and opted to have a bat. KL Ghanekar (17no off 31) batted nicely for the hosts, but support was noticeable by its absence. Four ducks prevented Beddington from generating any momentum as they slumped to 54 all out.
Co-captain Ellie Doherty was the destroyer in chief; she claimed 3-5 in three overs to set the Ts on their way. Betty Cassidy (2-12) and Karen Wilton (1-11) kept the momentum up before Emily Cramby (1-10) and Ursula Fletcher-Ogden (1-11) finished things off.
Sahoo's in the groove
Aditi Sahoo, arguably the Ts' star player in 2025, was, somewhat curiously, the only Twickenham bowler not to claim a wicket. Was Sahoo going to remain on the sidelines of this contest as the Ts took their turn to bat? Erm, no.....
Sahoo and 'keeper-batter Katie Martin-Fagg (KMF) got things moving for the visitors, and, indeed, it wasn't long at all before it became clear they were going to cruise their way to victory.
Sahoo hit five fours and a six on her way to 36no (off just 16 balls), KMF took the rather more sedate route, ending on 16no (off 20 balls, including three fours). Rock solid stuff.
The win sees the Ts edge ever closer to the top of the tree (see here). Twickenham are now just 19 points behind first placed Old Rutlishians, although the Ts do have two games in hand. Do we sense a title challenge incoming......?
Next up for the Ts is Streatham & Marlborough on Sunday 13 July. Best of luck one and all!
