Twickenham U11s make indoor debuts

Dan Hough1 Dec - 10:04

Two games, two defeats, but still a decent doo

The Twickenham CC U11s (year six and below in school) made their debuts in Middlesex Cricket's indoor competition on Sunday 30 November. Results? Largely immaterial, it was simply great to see everyone dive in and get involved.

Energy and Enthusiasm
The Ts' first steps into the brave new world of 'Action Cricket' took place at the impressive Gunnersbury Sports Hub. They locked horns with South Hampstead and then one of the Stanmore sides.

The results ultimately went against the Ts in both games, but that was largely immaterial. Both games were close, Twickenham losing by 37 runs to South Hampstead and then 12 runs to Stanmore.

The second game in particular saw the Ts improve in all facets of the game. Jack Baran and Harvir Ghere boshed impressively, Jesse Mills and Sam Allen ran quickly between the sticks and gave little away. Stan Hough did his MS Dohni impression, keeping neatly then coming on to bowl; if Dohni can do it in a Test Match, Hough (S) can certainly do it in an indoor cricket game.

Austin Tilzey then metamophosised into a six hitting beast, James Penrose was tidy in all facets of the game whilst Vince Hough injected energy into proceedings. All good.

The Ts are next up after Christmas when two more games are on the agenda. Marvellous.
