The U12s have finished their league campaign and indeed they finished it strongly; they ended the season as Division Three winners.
That didn't stop them from diving into a friendly encounter with near-neighbours Teddington. There were runs a plenty as the Ts ultimately won at a canter (see here for the card).
Ts' top order goes big
The Ts lost the toss and Teddington opted to do a bit of bowling. Perfectly fine for the Ts' top order; they strapped the pads on and caused batting havoc.
Four of the top six batted particularly fluently, so much so that they were all forced to retire. Opener Austin Belshaw hit 27 at more or less a run a ball. Number three Ronnie Riddett, however, is a fully signed up member of the Bazball club; he also retired on 27, but off a meagre 12 balls. Three fours and two big sixes saw to that.
Jake Hendry was no less robust in his approach; he was soon back in the shack (26no off 15) whilst James Marsh, playing two years up, also looked perfectly at one with the world. He retired on 25 (off 18).
That, however, wasn't the whole story in terms of Twickenham's batting. Annabelle Marsh would have been the fifth Twickenham batter to retire, only to be bowled by Nimansh Shekar for 22 (20 balls). Jaspal Sahota (2-10 off 2) led the way for Teddington.
Ghere and Hendry turn the screw
177 is a decent score in U12 cricket and Teddington will have known that they faced a tough task in chasing that down.
Opener Wilf Rollason certainly did all he could; he made 36 off 22. But, Rollason lacked any real support and the Teddington innings soon began to fall away. U10 stalwart Harvir Ghere (making his U12 debut) bowled particularly impressively, taking 1-1 off two overs, bowling figures that were perfectly replicated by Jack Hendry (also 1-1 off 2).
Anay Singh (1-5 off 2), Declan Bright (1-12 off 2) and Shay Patel (1-15) were also in the wickets as the Ts turned the screw and ultimately secured a victory for themselves. Teddington closed on 117-8.
Good stuff one and all, impressive work.
