The Twickenham U13Bs pulled off a comeback that Lazarus would have been proud of in beating Teddington’s U13Bs by 84 runs (see here for the card). Recovering from 8-4 they ended on 149, skipper Evan Davies hitting an impressive 49 (39 balls). Two wickets apiece for Arthur Dyer and Jack Burston then helped the Ts bowl Teddington out for 65 as the U13Bs moved to the top of Division Three (see here for the table).
Davies stands tall
The U13Bs have improved impressively through 2025. Nowhere was that more evident than in their win against Teddington on 18 June.
When the Ts were 8-4 it looked more likely that the U13B head honcho, Toni Ashby, would be the first female Pope than it did Twickenham were going to win this particular game of cricket. But, the side showed impressive stickability to dig in, eek out some runs and then field with both energy and drive. Respect due.
Evan Davies was the man who really turned things round. He hit nine fours in his impressive 49. Panayiotis Chronias carried that on, although his approach was rather more restrained. 26 (off 50 balls) was nonetheless an excellent effort. Lara Day proceeded to then finish things off nicely with a speedy 12 (off 11 balls). Jude Pantelis (2-4 off 2) and Freddie Hodgson (2-12) took the bowling plaudits for Teddington.
Twickenham shine in the field
In response Teddington started off impressively. Harry Druett (15 off 16) and Nate De Soyres (17 off 18) put on 38 for the first wicket; that gave Teddington a decent base on which to build.
The Ts, however, fought their way back into the game admirably. Lara Day worked some magic in the field, running out the dangerous De Soyres. Arran Taylor’s wily off spin then led to the demise of Durett, caught neatly by Dyer. With Chronias then running out number four Freddie Hodgson with just the one more run added Teddington were creaking on 44-3.
The game was entering a key phase. Would Twickenham rise to the challenge and put the Teddington batters under pressure? Make that a ‘yes’!
Jack Burston and Arthur Dyer took a couple of wickets apiece, Panayiotis Chronias chipped in with another. Max Loynes, playing a couple of years up, then executed (yet another) run out. The Ts were on fire, and Teddington were disintegrating under the pressure. They were all out for 65. Quite the turnaround from when Twickenham were 8-4.
Next up for the Ts are Roehampton. That game takes place at St Paul’s School on Tuesday 24 June. Go well, one and all.
