U10s bowling strength sees them home against Hampton Hill

Noah de Vos hat-trick helps see U10s to first win of the season

The Twickenham CC U10s welcomed Hampton Hill B to the Green on Sunday 10 May. Solid batting and excellent bowling saw the side to a well-deserved 38 run triumph (see here for the card).

Easy she goes with the bat
With under 10 Director of Cricket, Nick McCollin, away on other matters of state, his able assistant Craig de Vos stepped up to be cricketing tzar for the day. Would he be up to the challenge of marshalling the U10s to a first victory of 2026? Yes he would, very much so!

Batting first, the Ts illustrated why accumulating runs and not throwing wickets away has a lot going for it. Jack Baran and Quinn Kedzlie both added seven and, crucially, neither was out. Dylan Stokes continued in very similar vein, leaving Sam Allen to embrace his inner Bazball and start smacking the ball everywhere.

Allen, fresh from an impressive 30 in the U11s last week, hit 16 at quicker than a run-a-ball, helping the Ts close on a decent enough 279. Leo Shortridge (1-10 off 2) led the way with the ball for the visitors.

Hat-trick incoming!
Providing the Ts put their bowling and fielding heads on, 279 was seen as a score that was defendable. So it proved.

Hampton Hill certainly started well enough, Henry Thomas scoring the top score of the day (17). But, once he departed the Ts began to take control.

Noah de Vos played a big part in that. De Vos took 3-15, and those three wickets came in the form of a hat-trick; the first one this season for any Twickenham player in competitive cricket. Excellent stuff.

The splurge of wickets continued when Billy Webb grabbed a couple (2-4 off 2) and Sam Allen burgled 3-6. Allen had a decidedly decent day.....

All that came together to mean that the U10s won by 38 runs. Excellent stuff, well done to all concerned.
