The Twickenham CC U11s eased past Moormead on 10 June to record their third league win of the 2025 campaign (see here for the card). That win puts them nicely in mid-table, ready to strike out and make a move towards the Champions' League places (see here for the ladder).
Tail wags for the Ts
Moormead won the toss and opted to have a bowl. The Ts' opening pair had little trouble dealing with that and before long Twickenham were 34-0 and looking good.
At that point, however, things started to go a bit skew-wiff; Seb Goff (15 off 14) and Billy Clark (12 off 14) both departed proceedings. Both, for good measure, were run out, too.
Moormead's Fred Keane then came to the party impressively. He conceded a few runs, but he also took three wickets as Twickenham slipped to 52-5 and then 62-6.
Max Loynes (15 off 11) and Luke Jaap (13 off 14, more on him later....) nonetheless came in and calmed things down, and by the time Oscar Richardson was last out (yet another run out, the fourth of the innings) the Ts had got up to 127. Not a bad effort at all.
Jaap causes carnage
The Ts carried that momentum into their bowling. Max Loynes and Jonny May removed an opener apiece, and at 2-2 it was looking like Moormead had a real mountain to climb.
22 (from 33 balls) by William Mann steadied the ship, but neither he nor anyone else could do anything about the mid-innings onslaught launched by Luke Jaap. Jaap has been in decent form this season, twice taking a couple of wickets in an innings. He went a couple better than that this time, closing with 4-5 from his 12 balls. Impressive stuff indeed.
Around him, other Twickenham bowlers also chipped in; Seb Goff returned a tidy 1-7 off 2, whilst the innings was finished off by Rory Thornton. He removed Fred Keane (caught by Jonny May) to see Moormead end on 69 all out.
Next up for the U11s is a trip to Bushy Park on Monday to take on Teddington B. Could be an interesting one.
