U12s come out on top against Hampton Hill

Dan Hough11 Jun - 04:40

Strong performances with bat and ball see the Mumby Army home

Twickenham's U12s moved up to second place in Division 2 with a fine 39 run win against near-neighbours Hampton Hill (see here for the league table).

Loynes and Clark take the strain
The U12s continued their upward curve with a rock solid performance on 10 June (see here for the card). Ts' players put in a host of good performances as John Mumby's side eased home with something to spare.

The Ts had first hit and put 124 on the board. That represented a decidedly decent effort, particularly given that the Hill's Arthur Evans claimed two early wickets and reduced Twickenham to 5-2.

Max Loynes and skipper Billy Clark took the strain and began a rebuild, ultimately putting on 94 for the third wicket. Clark (43 off 41) was the first to go, and although a flurry of wickets then followed his dismissal, Louis Betts (13no off 18) ensured that the Ts finished strongly.

Solid stuff from the Twickenham bowlers
Hampton Hill's response got off to the same sort of start that Twickenham's did; wickets tumbled.

Luke Jaap was the main purportrator in chief, claiming a couple of scalps as the hosts slipped to 13-3. Jaap ultimately ended with 3-10 off 3; a decent effort.

Arthur Evans (43 off 39) then rallied, before Max Loynes returned to claim his second wicket of the innings. His 2-8 (off 3) was also impressive.

Luca Nel chipped in by removing the obdurate Alex Exworth, before Johnny May (3-7 off 3) tweaked and twirled his way through the tail. Hampton Hill ultimately fell a fair way short.

So, decent stuff all round then from the Ts. Next up they travel to Wycombe House on Thursday 18 June.
