The Twickenham CC U12s started their 2025 campaign in positive fashion, winning by 78 runs against Hampton Hill (see here for the card).
Iqbal leads the way
On a warm Mayday evening it was the Ts that won the toss and decided to have a bat. And, they started at a rate of knots.
Elias Iqbal opened up and helped himself to 24 (off 31 balls). The dismissal of skipper Austin Belshaw did little to stem the tide as Declan Bright (15 off 21) and Noah Hunt (24 off 29) hit the ground running.
Alfie Smith (2-11 off 2) did what he could to help Hampton Hill back into the game, but a solid 15no (off 21) from Shay Patel was enough to push Twickenham on to an impressive 154. A decent score to be defending.
Tight bowling all round
Thomas Rees-Jones (19 off 17 balls) ensured that Hampton Hill got off to a reasonable enough start at one end, but things at the other were going very much Twickenham's way. 14-1 became 33-6 as the Hampton Hill middle order imploded.
Noah Hunt (2-5) was at the forefront of things, although he was ably supported by Elias Iqbal (2-14). The rest of the bowling attack also contributed nicely; Anay Singh (1-4 off 2) gave little away, although Ishaan Jain took that to another level. Jain took one wicket from his two overs and didn't concede a single run.
Declan Bright also grabbed (the first) wicket, and Ishan Gupta the last as the Ts ultimately won with room to spare.
Next up for the Ts are Richmond B on Tuesday 6 May.
