The Twickenham U13s produced a monumental batting performance to chase down 185 at Fulham on Wednesday 20 May (see here for the card). Ronnie Riddett was, as ever, very much at the centre of things, although Jack Cornelius and Jake Hendry played admirably at the end to steer the Twickenham ship home.
Runs come thick and fast for Fulham
It's not often you lose a game of U13 cricket when you've scored 185, but that happened to poor old Fulham this evening.
Skipper Xavier Mullan (58no off 50) was the backbone of the hosts' innings, although 'keeper Arya Gupta 29 (off 17) injected some early impetus and Felix Haslov Dancey (27 off 21) kept things moving at the end.
In terms of the Ts' bowling, Anay Singh (2-24) and the indomitable Ronnie Riddett (2-29), fresh from taking his first wickets in senior cricket at the weekend, were very much at the centre of things.
Ts' batting comes to the party
The Ts knew that if chasing 185 was ever going to happen then they needed to get out of the blocks quickly. And, that they did.
Austin Belshaw fell when the score was 23, but that didn't stop Ronnie Riddett from blazing away at the other end. His 65 came off just 31 balls and included the small matter of six fours and indeed six sixes. That takes Riddett to 311 U13 league runs in 2026.....a total that is not just double the total of the second leading run scorer, Ashford's Vindiv Wijesinghe, but very nearly treble it. Wijesinghe has 109 runs to his name this season so far (and, to be clear, that is very much a decent effort).
This wasn't, however, a one man show. With Henry Luke (15 off 11) and Declan Bright going in relatively quick succession, Riddett needed a bit of support. Indeed, when Riddett himself perished to Gus Gray, the Ts still needed 56 to win.
Step up 'keeper batter Jack Cornelius and Jake Hendry. They batted superbly, adding all of those 56 runs, with Cornelius finishing on an undefeated 36 (off 24 balls) and Hendry a rapid 26 (off just 13 balls). The Ts were home and hosed with just over two overs to spare.
The win takes Twickenham up to third place in Division Two (see here for the table). Indeed, next up for the Ts are current league leaders Ashford. Could be a really interesting one.
