U15s lose a close one to Moormead

Twickenham U15s chase gamely but ultimately fall just short

The Twickenham U15s made the short trip to Moormead on 17 July. Runs were the order of the day, and Moormead ultimately scored 13 more than Twickenham did (see here for the card). Decent doo nonetheless.

Moormead set Twickenham 159 to win
Twickenham won the toss and they opted to let the hosts have first hit. Toby Bishop led the way for Moormead, hitting an impressive 46no off 31 balls. Fair play, not just Bishop's top score of the season but his top score in junior cricket. Decent effort.

Jack Walker led the T's bowling attack. He took the new ball and finished with a very respectable 2-13 off 3. Finn Ellis also chipped in by removing the number four, Ben Saxon, as Moormead ultimately closed on 158. Shout out to Ryyah Ali for ending with 0-11 off 2. Take out the extras and only two runs were scored of Ali's bowling.

Finn Ellis leads the fightback
In reply Dan Gladwell opened up and soon got the innings moving. He hit five fours in a run-a-ball 42. Jack Skan-Turner (20 off 20) also started nicely and between them they put on 58 for the first wicket.

Once they were both removed, things got a little trickier for the Ts. That was largely as Matthew Stelmaszczyk caused significant problems with the ball, ending with an impressive 3-15.

Still, James Hazard (19no off 27) and particularly Finn Ellis (25 off 16) were not giving up the ghost. Ellis in particular made hay and whilst he was batting the Ts were certainly in it. Once Jonathan Biggs removed him caught and bowled the die was nonetheless cast. The Ts closed just a few runs short.

Next up for the U15s is an internal game on Monday 21 June. Go well, everyone.
