Four Twickenham sides in action, one side already has points in the bag

The 2s and 3s have decidedly winnable games. They really do need to make sure that's precisely what they do
- Paul Johnson

Four Twickenham sides will be taking to the field in Week 7 of the MCCL season. They'll all be hoping to bring the respective bacon home.

Spare a thought for Winchmore Hill 4ths
The 5ths, meanwhile, will be engaging in cricketing combat ... but not in the league. There, well, their job is already done; Winchmore Hill 4s cried off on Thursday and Chris Wylde's barmy army subsequently have their points long since in the bag.

It is nonetheless worth sparing a thought for Winchmore Hill. The regionalisation of lower league cricket was supposed to mean that sides played against opponents from their respective part of the county. The Hill, however, have their 3rds in Division 6a. That means that the 4ths couldn't also be allocated to that division. Their 4s therefore had to be shifted in to Division 6b - effectively Division 6 South, so diametrically the wrong end of the county for them.

If you're in Winchmore Hill 3s then every away game will be relatively close. If you're in the 4s every game will be (at least theoretically) farther away than every one of the away games your threes play! A rum deal for the 4s in every way.

There may, however, be a glimmer of light on the horizon. WH's thirds are at least doing pretty well this season. Indeed, they are in the promotion hunt (see here). If they can sneak their way up and in to Division 5 then you'd think their 4s would transfer across to the northern section of Division 6. And much shorter car journeys.

5ths entertain Kingstonian
Hinay Dassani has nonetheless worked his magic and the 5ths have an attractive friendly fixture to look forward to. They entertain Kingstonian.

Phil Walker will be leading the troops, whilst the engine room of Andy Donelan, Paul McLoughlin and Jonny Bosier are all ready to roll. Throw in Brian Thorne and Zafar Ali and the Ts clearly have more experience in that side than you can shake a stick at. Jonty Hunt returns to the side and he's likely to go up top and open up with Donelan; a productive opening unit this season thus far. Nitin Parab - fresh from his sparkling innings last week - is also down to play (largely as he can't travel away). That's batting a plenty for Walker to choose from.

Given that the 5s have their 12 points in the bag the league table already looks (much) better. The 5ths have shot up to 6th (see here). Whether they will still be there at 8pm on Saturday remains, of course, to be seen.

Ones take on Stanmore
The ones, meanwhile, will be hoping to turn their recent run of poor results around when they welcome Stanmore to the Green. Stanmore have won two out of six thus far. That includes an impressive six wicket win last week against Hampstead. Some bloke called Ramprakash scored 55no as they chased down 161 (see here). I guess those 116 first class centuries would indicate that he's a half-decent performer.

Carlos Nunes largely keeps faith with the side that's been turning out thus far this year. And with good reason, there's plenty of talent there. It's much more a case of players getting back in to some sort of nick. It's nonetheless good to see Gurjit Sandhu back in the side whilst the in-form Phil Nash will also be looking to hit the ground running.

The team is Carlos Nunes, Rhys Davies, Valentin Giraud, Mesome Hussain, Ben Leale-Green, Don Manuwelge, Phil Nash, Scott Newman, Gurjit Sandhu, Sanjit Sandhu and Abhiraj Singh,

Twos visit Kenton
The twos hit the road to take on Kenton. As was discussed in this week's TCC podcast, Kenton's ground is not big. Indeed, it's arguably (alongside Highgate) the smallest in the county. So, watch for players looking to hit those small boundaries and duly holing out in the process.

Kenton are currently bottom of the log (see here). Eugene Berger will nonetheless be taking precisely nothing for granted as his side look to get back on the horse after two straight defeats.

Darshan Chohan and Rishi Kanjani are players with real first team ambitions, yet they find themselves in the twos; that should offer a bit of solidity at the top of the order. Ethan Wright and Sam Cliffe will also be looking to continue their fine recent form, whilst George Yates comes in for his debut. Throw in the mercurial spin of Tom Field, Nakul Vishvanath and indeed Berger himself and the skipper clearly has a decent toolkit at his disposal.

The full side is; Eugene Berger, Darhsan Chohan, Sam Cliffe, Steve Cowley, Tom Field, Rishi Kanjani, Dan Taylor, Dom Thamby, Nakul Vishvanath, Ethan Wright and George Yates

Threes welcome Southgate
The threes welcome Southgate to St Mary's. Steve Watts's side are in much the same position as the 2nds; a season that potentially could see them do very well needs to be put back on track. Given that Southgate are struggling in the league (see here) they might well be the ideal opposition to do precisely that.

Watts certainly has a stronger side in tow than he has done at any point this season so far. Mr Northern, Geoff Stothert, is back, whilst the engine room of Connor Finney, Ajmal Allahdad and Harry Grinstead looks primed for runs.

Given that Southgate only managed 43 in last week's mauling against Ealing the likes of JP Bowman, Anu Agarwal and Ozzie Qavi will be looking forward to getting amongst them. Watts will hope they do; a win is a real must if this season isn't going to slip in to one long relegation battle.

The side is; Steve Watts, Anu Agarwal, Mo Ahmad, Ajmal Allahdad, Robbie Bosier, JP Bowman, Connor Finney, Harry Grinstead, Ozzie Qavi, Parampreet Singh and Geoff Stothert.

Will the fours bandwagon roll on?
Hinay Dassani and his troops remain the go to Twickenham side in terms of wins. Played six, won six tells its own story (see here for the table).

This week they travel to 7th placed South Hampstead. Mehran Iqbal will again be taking the new ball alongside HD, whilst Anil Bhatt, Nisar Abidi and Rajdeep Chaudhary offer excellent back up.

Batting-wise the 4s remain much as they were; Colin Blunden and Uzzi Khan will be up top, whilst the likes of Martin Fairn and Oli George will be in the engine room. Brandon Newman also makes his debut. Throw in the red-ink-hunter, Nihal Tomar, and Dassani will go in to the game in confident mood.

The full team is; Hinay Dassani, Nisar Abidi, Anil Bhatt, Colin Blunden, Rajdeep Chaudhary, Martin Fairn, Oli George, Mehran Iqbal, Uzzi Khan, Brandon Newman and Nihal Tomar.

Week 7 looks like it might well end up being a 'moving week' for a number of the Ts' sides. Win and they can start to think positively about what lies ahead. Lose and what might have otherwise been a blip (or two) looks ever more seriously like a slump. Let's see what Saturday brings.

Go well, everyone.
