Harrow 3s, 155 a/o (Hinay Dassani 4 wickets, Nitin Parab 3 wickets)
Twickenham 4s, 156/6 (Karandeep Singh 74*)
Hinay won the toss and elected to field first, Sarwant and Hinay opened the bowling. Harrow had a good start and where 50/0 after 14 overs. This quickly changed to 80/5 with 22 overs gone. Hinay got us the break through with 4 wickets and Rajdeep Chaudhary added a fifth with a super yorker.
Hinay kept tempting the batsmen with his slower ones, one of the batsmen trying to chip Hinay over his head for a boundary. Little did he know that Hinay is one the toughest bowlers to do that to, he was caught front on with Mo Ahmed running across and diving from mid off.
After drinks Harrow rebuilt their partnership and with one of the openers still in they moved to 125/5 in 31 overs.
At this point Hinay, or Marlon (Samuels) as we should probably call him, had a change of plan. He brought on the ex-Mumbai Indians leg spinner Nitin Parab to support him on the other end. Fresh and raring to go after his heroics with the bat last week, Andy Donelan also came in to the attack. Nitin did what he does best and that is to use the conditions well, he bowled superbly for a quick 3 fer and in no time (5-0-24-3) he reminded all of us of Amit Mishra straight out of the IPL. At the other end Donners had figures of 5-0-12-1. He bowled with good discipline and looked to be in complete control.
Harrow finished on 155.
The Ts skipper had tough decisions to make at the break with a star studded batting-heavy side. But Marlon has tough decisions for breakfast, he's used to it!
The Ts opened the batting with Mo Ahmed and Karandeep Singh. They both played to the situation and go us to a very good start of 59/0 in 12 overs, this included plenty of good shots with smooth running between the wickets.
This partnership also included the shot of the day by Mo who cleared his front leg out of the way to a full pitched delivery lofting it over the bowlers head for a one bounce 4. What a shot, what a player!
Mo departed when he missed one from a tricky left arm spin bowler hitting him straight in line. The skipper raised his finger and Mo was on his way. As it happens, this simply meant he was even more determined on Sunday when he scored a tonne for the MDL side.
Twickenham tried to rebuild with 2 short partnerships but lost Coach and Rajdeep and with score at 97/3 Martin Fairn walked in. He played some good shots with a hand full of 2s and a couple of boundaries. Karandeep at the other end was getting on with his job, he applied himself really well and got to his 50 with a pull over mid wicket for 4. What a shot, what a player!
We lost another couple of wickets but eventually got over the line with Karandeep on 74*.
A well deserved victory for Ts in the end. A special mention to the Harrow 3s. They had a young side who could all play and have a lot of potential. They played with plenty of courage and in the end what differentiated us was our experience.
On to next week where Marlon's XI take on Perivale.
