U11s end season on a high

Dermot Moloney

Double over Teddington Town

On another warm evening on the Green, the U11s faced Teddington Town at home on what proved to be a very fast outfield.
After losing the toss Teddington opted to bowl and after the game in Bushy Park where they troubled the Ts. It was going to be another interesting game.
Ollie and Asa headed for the middle and after last weeks heroics against Wycombe House Asa was caught behind for one in the second over. Adam Tebb joined Ollie at the crease and although it took him a while to get going, he backed up Ollie at every opportunity and Ollie started to push the score along nicely. Adam got into the act and started stroking the ball around nicely. Ollie started to settle and took the attack to Teddington scoring freely at a rate of knots pushing his score up to an excellent 41 before he was bowled with an ball that just had the faintest of touches on the bail and it dropped to the ground. The score at this stage was looking respectable 103 off 13 overs.
Jack , who had been waiting patiently on the side and joined Adam in the middle. They backed each other up with good running and calling and the runs kept flowing with beautiful shots from both batsmen and with Basher waiting in the wings, this pair was not to be denied taking the team to 20 overs. Ts finished on 164-2, with Adam unbeaten on 41 and Jack unbeaten on 21.
Looking like a good total to defend, Ts kept it tight for the first few over and were rewarded in the fifth over when Arthur managed to break the opening pair up with a great ball that was caught by Jack when it was popped up. The next over paid dividends as Joe tempted the No 3 bat when he edged a wide one and Reuben took a great catch behind the stumps.
Things were looking up for the Ts and they managed to stem the run rate with some good fielding but Mr Extras was trying to join the party and ruin Ts last league game. Teddingtons No 4 had started to open up on the middle of the innings but they were still behind the run rate and the runs started to dry up as Asa, Matthew, Jack and Ollie contained the batsmen with great spells. A great throw in from the boundary by Adam when TTCC were coming back for a second in the 17th over smacked Ollie in the ribs after it took a wicked bounce and the we thought that was it for Ollie but two balls later he took a tremendous caught and bowled when most spectators were convinced that the ball was heading for the boundary. Matthew wrapped up the innings with good last over and Ts were home by 19 runs.
A great all around performance as the Ts end the season on a high.
Thanks again to all that came and supported the boys. Thanks to Adam and David for scoring and now looks like we are heading towards the digital era with a scoring app! and thanks to everyone who helped put everything away at the end.
