After losing to Sheen earlier in opener this season, we returned to Sheen Common, with a changed side, including two debutants, against a very strong bowling Sheen side comprising of at least five Middlesex players, for the cup match.
After losing the toss the being put into bat, Asa and Matthew started brightly in the first over scoring quite freely against the Sheen quickie. But just as they were settling Matthew played around one was bowled for two. Thomas joined but was soon back in the hutch after being bowled on his fourth ball. Bart joined Asa and settled in quickly, scoring three off his first ball, and it looked as the Ts were getting into their rhythm but Bart was finally bowled for 13. Unfortunately, we then had a Whitton Wanderers (*Mr Corke will appreciate this!) style collapse, against pace and swing and were finally all out for 45 in the 13th over.
A quick turn around and a pep talk from the coaches, saw the Ts take to the field with confidence. Bart took a wicket in the 2nd over and was unlucky not to take out other Sheen opener when ball went through his pads missed leg stump by a whisker. The effort in the field was excellent with everyone on their game and Harry bowling a tremendous maiden, which gave the boys hope. But Sheen survived a few more scares with balls falling just short of fielders and a few clearing out stretched hands, before knocking the runs off in the 7th over.
Back to the drawing board for batting but heads held high with a concerted fielding effort.
