Dermot Moloney

u13 lose opener to Wycombe House

After winning the toss and electing to bat, Ts U13s took to the field ably led by Asa Jennings and Ollie King, the boys settled in watching the first couple of overs and running well with byes on offer. Asa was unlucky to depart early on when one nipped back and he was bowled for 1. Debutant Luke Curwen joined Ollie at the crease and he held up one end while Ollie set about the attack in superb fashion. Luke departed for 3 with the score on 30 and Ollie soon followed after scoring 24 of 23 balls. Danny and Bart were the next two in and Bart looked to be getting set when he was unlucky to loop one to a short point. James promoted from usual 8/9/10 slot joined Danny and after some good running was struck on the foot, a few balls later he departed with one that popped up and was caught. Arthur joined James, who was relishing his new role at number 6 and started to attack the bowling, hitting a massive six straight back over the bowlers head followed and he started to steady the ship. Arthur departed after scoring 4, Harry followed soon after for 0 and Leo joined James when Ts were on 74/7 after 12.4 overs Leo proved to be a great wingman, holding up one end and running well as James smashed four after four pushing the Ts score on. Leo finally departed for 3 three but the pair had pushed the score onto 111/8. Shay joined James as he pushed for his 50 with 5 balls to go but alas it eluded him and he finished on 46 not out with the Ts scoring 121.
A quick turnaround and Ts took to the field and the rustiness showed for the first few overs with no balls, lots of byes and fours being offered up. up to the opposition. WHCC made a quick fire 53 before Harry bowled the opener. Alisha, the danger girl, joined Zidaan at the crease and held up and end whilst Zidaan took on the attack but she soon departed with the score on 79. The following ten overs Ts got back into the match the cobwebs were blown away and the wickets started to fall and the runs started to dry up. Ollie with an LBW, Arthur with two quick wickets in a great spell finishing on 2 wickets for four runs, and then Asa caught and bowled Zidaan leaving WHCC on 97/5 with just over 4 overs to go. In the final over and a very, very close or dubious run out - depending which way you saw it WHCC scraped home winning with one ball to go.
A good alJoe was superb in the field, Luke was unlucky with a couple of catches, Ollie and Bart did a great job sharing the wicket keeping duties after Shay got injured
A great run out for the boys and unlucky not to come away with the win.
Thank you to Victoria who organised David, Paul & Simon by helping to set up and put away the covers, boundary, chairs etc.
Roll on next Thursday away to Teddington Town
