The effects of the long winter break were much in evidence as the u15's failed to chase down an eminently gettable target of 78, eventually finishing 24 runs short in their opening fixture on Kew Green on Monday evening.
Taylor was the only batsman to make double figures as the team made hard work of the chase. But no-one else could master the bowling and as the required run-rate got higher and higher ever more desperate running led to a succession of run-outs. Undoubtedly with more game time the batting will improve.
This was disappointing because the first innings had been a really good bowling and fielding display. 8 bowlers were used and ALL bowled well. wickets were shared between Nikhil (2), Dominic, Taylor, Faizan and Harry. There were also good spells from Luke, Thomas (TJ) and Freddie.
Volunteer wicket-keeper Olly did a great job behind the stumps - not his usual position, so Thank You Olly, and there was a fine direct hit run-out by Alex. An all-round good effort in the field.
Thanks to Liam for scoring, and the other parents for their support.
